A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR PART. -TIME
EMPLOYMENT OF MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
STUDENTS, AS RECREATIONAL LEADERS, IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH
IN THE ATTACHED \GREEMENT: WITH FUNDS THEREFOR
ALLOCATED FROM THE PARK AND RECREATION DEPART-
MENT CURRENT -BUDGETED FUNDS,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MAMI,
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
execute the attached agreement for part-time employment of
Miami -Dade Community College Students, as recreational leaders,
in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth therein,
with funds therefor hereby allocated from current -budgeted funds
of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Junior College Work
Study Program
The Junior College Work Study Program having been
in existence for over 10 years, is an important
ingredient in our department's total operation for we
are giving a maximum of twenty (20) students the
opportunity to work fifteen (15) hours a week in their
chosen field and they, in,turn, provide a viable ser-
vice to the community.
It is important for our department, the community,
and these students that the Junior College Work Study
Program be continued.

THIS AG . EXENT is entered into between tliami-Dade Coitmunity College, hereinafter
know as the "College", and City of Miatni, ._Florida. ,
hereinafter know as the "Agency", a (public organization) (private nonprofit
organization), (strike one), within the meaning of that term as defined in
Section 175.2 of the College Work -Study Regulations, for the purpose of pro=
viding work to students eligible to participate in the College Work -Study
Program.

3. Students will be employed by the College and made available to the Agency
by the College for performance of specific work assignments. Students may
be removed from work on a particular assignment or from the Agency only by
the College, either on its own initiative or at the request of the Agency.
The Agency agrees that no student will be denied work or subjected to different
treatment under this agreement on the grounds of race, color, religion, or
national origin; and that it will comply with the provisions of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964 (P.L. 83.352; 78 Stat. 252) and the Regulations of
the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare which implement that Act.
4. Transportation for students to and from their work assignments will not be
provided by either the College or the Agency.
5. Compensation of students for work performed on a project under this agreement
will be paid by the College, which shall be deemed the employer of the students;
and all payments due as an employer's contribution under Federal or State social
security laws, or under other applicable laws, will be made by the College.
6. At the end of each month, the Agency will pay the College an amount to cover
the agency's share of the compensation of students employed under this agreement.
7. While the College will be deemed the employer of students participating in any
project under this agreement, the Agency will be responsible for the direct
supervision of work performed and will maintain and mare available to the college
the names and qualifications of Agency supervisors. The Agency will also provide
to the College a record of the hours worked weekly by each student. This record
will be attested to by an authorized official of the Agency.

1, JOB DESCRIPTION: The Student Recreation Leader, with supervision by the Agency
Recreation Leader, plans, conducts and supervises selected program areas for all
age groups within the cooperating Agency's department.
2. 'TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT The Agency agrees that the work performed under
Section 175.4 (c) of the College Work -Study Regulations must either be
related to the students' educational objective or be work in the public
interest. It is further agreed by the Agency that this work must be work
which would otherwise be provided; will not displace employed workers
or impair existing contracts for services, and will be governed by such
conditions of employment, including compensation, as will be appropriate
and reasonable in light of such factors as the type of work performed,
proficiency of the employee, and geographic region of employment. It
is further agreed by the Agency that this work will not involve political
activity or work for any political party. Further, that no project under
this agreement will involve the construction, operation, or maintenance of
any facility used for religious instruction of worship.
3. REFERRAL: Tha College agrees to refer to the Agency students eligible to
participate in the College Work -Study Program.
4. NUMBER TO 5E ACCEPTED: It is understood that the Agency will not be
required to select more than 20 students for employment, and that
all students must meet the requirements of the Agency before being employed.
5. REQUIREMENTS OF AGENCY: The College understands and agrees that the students
selected for employment shall be required to comply with the Agency's normal
routine pre -employment requirements, including, without limitation thereto, t
the completion of necessary forms and the taking of any physical examinations.
If the Agency does require physical examinations to be made of the students, r

the examinations shall be made at the expense of the Agency. il
6. HOURLY WAGE: The students employed under this Agreement as Recreation ;
