The Parents' Coalition was formed from the PTC organizations of the City of
Miami Day Care Program three months ago, At the time it was felt that more

service in the centers by a group of parents and professionals not w-rking
under the cify's jurisdiction. Since its inception the Coalition has been seeking
answers to the problems as a representative body for the parents of all four
city centers,
With this in mind. the Coalition is now requesting to placed on the agenda
for the next City Commission meeting, April 27, 1973, Three major areas we
would like to present to the commission are:
I. We request that the commission by resolution rnake provision for equal re—
presentation by parents and professionals on a child care advisory council.
2. We ask that the commission vote to establish an Office of Children's Services,
4hich will a)adriinister the day care program, b) serve as a clearing house for
all services available to families and children, c) report to the commission
and administration any unneceesary duplication of services, dl attract additional
,o^ies to Miami as a model demonstration site for the nation. This office
should report directly to the City Manager and should be operated at no additional
cost to the city. It will attract funds from sources previously not available
because of the nature of its scope in dealing with all facets of family life.
3. We would like to submit our findings based on an intensive study of the day
care program and administration and the findings of our professional consul—
tants concerning the the total day care program.

Miami family community.
