A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE FORMATION OF
A COMMITTEE OF PERC CERTIFIED CITY EMPLOYEE
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNITS, INCLUDING A REPRE=
SENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI ASSOCIATION OF
RETIRED EMPLOYEES, INC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF
KEEPING BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEES FULLY INFORMED
OF THE ACTIVITY IN THE CITY'S PROPOSED SELF -FUNDED
AND ADMINISTRATIVE CLAIMS SERVICE PROGRAM FOR
GROUP HEALTH AND ACCIDENT PROTECTION.
WHEREAS, the City Administration is recommending that
Miami establish a self -funding and administrative claims
service program for City employee group health and accident protection;
and
WHEREAS, representatives of certified employee collective
bargaining units have expressed a desire to become informed about the
aforesaid program; and
WHEREAS, the certified employee bargaining units have indi-
cated their intention to form a committee composed of one representative
from each of the aforesaid units, including a representative of the City
of :Miami Association of Retired Employees, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration will inform the aforesaid
committee in advance of any change of employee premium contributions,
substantial transfers of cash reserves above normal day-to-day opera-
tions, and of any change of reserve requirements necessary to keep the
protection program funded on an actuarially sound basis.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
"DOCUMFMT , INDEX
Section 1. The formation of a committee of PERC certified
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
City employee collective bargaining units, including a representative of
the City of Miami Association of Retired Employees, Inc., for the purpose
of keeping bargaining unit employees fully informed of the activity in
the City's proposed self -funded and administrative claims service program
for group health and accident protection is hereby commended and recom-
mended to the City Manager.
