A RESOLUTION ORDERING AN IMPROVEMENT KNOWN
AS"COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS AREA DECORATIVE
PEDESTRIAN -SCALE STREET LIGHTING PROJECT B-6177",
AND DESIGNATING THE PROPERTY AGAINST WHICH
SPECIAL AGREED CHARGES SHALL BE MADE FOR THE
ENTIRE COST THEREOF AS "COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS
AREA DECORATIVE PEDESTRIAN -SCALE STREET LIGHTING
PROJECT AREA B-6177".
WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove area is a historic tourist
attraction, well-known throughout the nation for its atmosphere;
and
WHEREAS, Main Highway between McFarlane Road and
Franklin Avenue; Grand Avenue between Mary Street and McDonald
Street; Commodore Plaza and Fuller Street between Grand Avenue
and Main Highway, make up most of the business area of Coconut
Grove; and
WHEREAS, a City highway improvement project is underway
which shall include replacement of existing sidewalk with decorative
brick and the installation of new curb and gutter, landscaped
planter areas, trees, street benches and decorative bricked cross-
walks in an area encompassing the business area of Coconut Grove;
and
WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove property owners and Coconut
Grove Ad Hoc Committee are desirous of having a Decorative Pedes-
trian -Scale street lighting system installe4it!hrroi bout the nbusiness

WHEREAS, this decorative lighting system wil
e an
asethetic improvement to the area; and
WHEREAS, although this decorative lighting system will be
supplemental to the regular street lighting system, its installation is
not contemplated under the aforesaid City highway improvement pro-
ject; and
WHEREAS, the property owners have requested that the City
charge them for the entire installation cost of this system. and
WHEREAS, the City administration and the •property
owners both propose that this improvement cost be paid for
over a 10-year period; and
WHEREAS, the decorative lighting system will become
the property of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City will pay the maintenance and energy
costs of this decorative lighting system; and
WHEREAS, the Law Department has ruled that a "Covenant"
with the City must be entered into by the abutting property owners
in order for this project to be accomplished; and
WHEREAS, the City has received or has been promised
the necessary covenants;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. An improvement described as COCONUT GROVE
BUSINESS AREA DECORATIVE PEDESTRIAN -SCALE STREET LIGHTING PROJECT
B-6177 is hereby ordered to be made and located within the City
of Miami, as follows:
that portion of Main Highway lying between
McFarlane Road and Franklin Avenue; that
portion of Grand Avenue lying between Mary
Street and McDonald Street; that portion of
Commodore Plaza lying between Grand Avenue
and Main Highway; and that portion of Fuller
Street lying between Grand Avenue and Main
Highway;
including necessary intersections and returns.
Section 2. This improvement shall include the install-
ing of pedestrian -scale lighting fixtures and poles, and the
installing of underground wiring for the lighting system. All the
work will be done as specified and described in the Standard City
of Miami Specifications for Public Works Projects.
Section 3. This improvement shall be designated in all
proceedings as COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS AREA DECORATIVE PEDESTRIAN-
SCALE STREET LIGHTING PROJECT B-61.77, and the property against

which agreed special charges shall_ be made for the entire cost
thereof is hereby designated as COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS AREA
DECORATIVE PEDESTRIAN -SCALE STREET LIGHTING PROJECT AREA B-6177.

Development Corp, Grant of

CORNELIA M. DAY'S SUB (3-16)
Neither Townscape Development Corp. nor the
City has clear title to the above referenced
property. The attached Resolution authorizes
City officials to grant a Quit Claim Deed to
the subject property and accept from Townscape
Development Corp. an easement for the same
property. This will resolve the owner's title
problem and will give the City the necessary
right-of-way.
The Law Department and the City Administration
have no objection to the granting of the Quit
Claim Deed.

sum of One Dollar (81.00) paid by the grantee, the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged, and other valuable consideration, has
remised, released and quit -claimed, and by these presents does
remise, release and quit -claim unto the said grantee, all the right,
title, interest, claim and demand which the grantor has in and to
the following described land, situate, lying and being in the County
