Homan Match 24, 1978 Waiver of Fees for Various City Facilities = F.P.E.A. r.rcrr,er:eLS: At the City Commission Meeting of March 23, 1978, an unscheduled item was introduced whereby representatives of the Florida Poli- tical Education Association requested waiver of rental fees for various City facilities. The fees to be waived involve: - Gusman Hall on April 4, 1978, in the amount of $500 - Miami Stadium on April 9, 1978, in the amount of $500 - Park Department Large Showmobile on April 7&8 - $310 From the brochure and letter that was handed out at the com- mission Meeting, it appeared that no admission would be charged at any of the events, which commemorate the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. If that were the case, I would simply recommend to you by memo that the fees be waived administratively -- according to established Commission Policy. However, it appears that admission will be charged; so it is necessary that the Commission act, by Resolution, to formally waive the rental fees listed above. Attached is the appropriate resolution granting the waivers and transferring funds out of the Gusman Hall Concerts Account and the Fee Waiver Account. I might mention that the Commission has established a special committee to review requests for fee waivers at Gusman Hall. Of late, the Committee has not been given the opportunity to review requests for certain fee waiver requests granted directly by the City Commission. r78-258
