FOR THE SALE OF 1,100 HAND GUNS CONFISCATED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT A TOTAL PRICE OF $45,769.50. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 1, 1978 for the sale of 1,100 hand guns confiscated by the Department of Police, and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Police recommend the bid received from Phillip Gall & Son, Inc. be accepted as the most advan- tageous bid to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The March 1, 1978 bid of Phillip Gall & Sons, Inc. for the sale of 1,100 hand guns confiscated by the Department of Police at a total price of $45,769.50 is hereby accepted. Invitations were mailed to thirty-five potentialbidders bids were received as follows: Bidder Phillip Gall & Sons, Inc. Tamiami Gun Shop Southern Gun Distributors, Inc. Century Arms, Inc. National Rifle & Pistol Academy, Inc. Alpha Firearms House of Instant Money, Inc. Jones Equipment Co. Maszk's Workshop, Inc. The intent of this bid guns or trade them for Lot Price $45,769.50 $40,500.00 $40,000.00 $36,600.00 $35,000.00 $17,509.99 $15,285.00 $15,001.00 and nine Exchange 215 guns Offered to sell new hand guns:Model 4136 at $81.31 each and Model 1164 at $88.44 and no offer was made for the confiscated guns. was to sell 1,100 confiscated serviceable hand new weapons to be used by the Department of Police. Only one bid was received which offered the exchange of new guns in lieu of cash. Jones Equipment Company offered to exchange 215 new guns for the 1,100 confiscated guns. 215 new guns can be purchased on the open market for approximately $20,000.00. It is recommended that the award be made and a resolution be passed ac- cepting the most advantageous bid as received from Phillip Gall & Sons, Inc. for the sale of 1,100 confiscated hand guns at a total price of $45,769.50.
