Box 330708 Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Mr. Grassic: cri 0, 114 On May 1 it will be the privilege of National Airlines to commence non-stop air services to two important new destinations in Europe - Amsterdam and Frankfurt - from Miami. Historically, such new air services have paved the way for important economic and cultural ties between the involved communities. In observance of this occasion, National is permitted by Federal Law and our agreements with the International Air Transport Association to provide courtesy inaugural flights for civic and business leaders of the involved communities. Accordingly, we will have an inaugural flight departing Miami May 1 and returning May 7, after appropriate ceremonies in Amsterdam and Frankfurt, (We will have inaugural ceremonies later in the month bringing comparable guests from Europe to Florida.) Since the City of Miami will be heavily promoted and identified in these proceedings, it is clearly proper that Miami be represented by the Mayor. In order for the Mayor to accept the invitation, we believe it fitting for the Miami City Commission to, by vote, accept the invitation and designate the Mayor as the City's repre- sentative on the inaugural flight. As City Manager, we believe it important that you also accompany us to explore the advantages these new routes represent to Miami, and trust the City Commission would concur in our invitation. I ask that these matters be placed before the City Commission at the April 7 meeting; and I will be glad to entertain questions on behalf of National Airlines. Sincerely, -7/ Donald F. McGui Director - State & Community Affairs
