A RESOLUTION RATIFYING, APPROVING, AND
CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER1S EXTENSION,
ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASES, OF A PREVIOUSLY
AUTHORIZED AGREEMENT, I3ETWEEN TIME CITY
AND MALL TRANSPORTATION, INC., DATED
SEPTEMBER 6, 1977, FOR FURNISHING COMPLI-
MENTARY SHUTTLE TRAM SERVICE IN DOWNTOWN
MIAMI TO NEW WORLD CENTER/BICENTENNIAL PARK,
UNDER THE SAME TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS SET
FORTH IN SAID ORIGINAL AGREEMENT WITH FUNDS
THEREFOR I.N THE AMOUNT OF $2,700 PER MONTH
ALLOCATED FROM THE GENERAL FUND, SPECIAL
PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS -CONTINGENT FUND, IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,400.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1.. The action of the City Manager in extend-
ing, on a month -to -month basis, a previously authorized agree-
ment between the City and Mall Transportation, Inc., dated
September 6, 1977, for furnishing complimentary shuttle tram
service in Downtown Miami. to New World Center/Bicentennial Park,
under the same terms and conditions as set forth in said original
agreement is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds
therefor in the amount of $2,700 per month hereby allocated from
the General Fund, Special Programs and Accounts —Contingent Fund,
in an amount not to exceed $5,400.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23 day of March , 1978.

I am requesting your permission to extend the existing Shuttle
Tram Franchise Agreement on a month -to -month basis rather
than to proceed into negotiations for a long term agreement.
The trial. shuttle tram service operating in downtown Miami in
service to New World Center Bicentennial Park, has been in
operation since September 19, 1977. The Franchise Agreement
was for a period of six (6) months and expires on March 19, 1978.
In addition, advertisement and mailing in solicitation of pros-
pective cafe operators for the Portside Cafe, located in the New
World Center - Bicentennial Park, is currently underway in the
Purchasing Office. It is my recommendation that the City wait
to negotiate any new agreement for the shuttle tram service
inasmuch as this might be underwritten by a prospective
concessionaire and, therefore, considered a negotiable item
lo be included in the forthcoming Cafe Agreement.
It is requested that funds up to five thousand four -hundred dollars
($5, 400) be allocated from the Contingency Fund for the payment
of Tram Service.
The popularity of the Shuttle Tram Service is evident as its
recent average weekly passenger load exceeds twenty-seven
hundred (2700).
