A RESOLUTION RA'IIFYINC AN1 APPROVIN@ A ONE YEAR EXTENSION OP EMPLOYNENT
PAST THE ACE OP 70 FOR JUAN PEREZ, CUSTobIAN FOREMAN, DEPARTMENT OP
STAb1UMS ARb MARINAS, EPPECTIVE MARCH 8, 1978, THROUGH MARCH 7, 1979,
WITH PROVISION THAT IN THE EVENT OP A ROLLBACK OR LAYOFF, MR. PEREZ,
RATHER THAN A JUNIOR EMPLOYEE, WOULD BE AFFECTED.
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board, on March 7, 1978, unanimously recommended
the approval of employment past the age of 70 for JUAN PEREZ, Custodian Foreman, Depart
tent of Stadiums and Marinas; and
WHEREAS, the City Physician has determined that the physical considion of said
JUAN PEREZ is satisfactory for continued employment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The granting of a one year extension of employment past the age
of 70 for JUAN PEREZ, Custodian Foreman, Department of Stadiums and Marinas, effective
March 8, 1978 through March 7, 1979, is hereby ratified and approved, with the provision
that in the event of a rollback or layoff, Mr. Perez rather than a junior employee would
be affected.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of March , 1978.

Civil Service Board Action on Request
for Extension of Employment for
Juan Perez, Custodian Foreman, Stadiums 11
& Marinas Department, from March 8,1978
to March 8, 1979
At its meeting of March 7, 1978, the Civil Service Board considered the request of
Juan Perez, Custodian Foreman, Stadiums & Marinas Department, for an extension of his
employment for a period of one (1) year, to be effective March 8, 1978 to March 8, 1979.
The Board noted that Robert L. Jennings, Director of Stadiums & Marinas, has recommended
approval of this request and that Dr. L. A. Toto, City Physician, has found Mr. Perez to
be physically qualified to continue employment for the additional year.
The Board voted to approve the request, with the provision that in the event of a toll -
back or layoff, Mr. Perez, rather than a junior employee, would be affected, noting that
this is in accordance with past policy.

The Civil Service Board, at its tweeting of March 7, 1978, approved one (1) year's
extension of his employment for Juan Perez, Custodian Foreman, Stadiums & Marinas
Department.
It is respectfully requested that a Resolution be adopted extending Mr. Perez's
employment from March 8, 1978 to March 8, 1979.

Mr. Juan Perez, who is classified as Custodian Foreman with
this department, has requested continuation of active service be-
yond his 74th birthday, March 8, 1978.
In accordance with Rule 11, Section 4 of the Civil Service Rules and
Regulations of the City of Miami, Florida, it is hereby recommended
that Mr. Perez be retained on active service.
Mr, Perez is utilized in a supervisory capacity; and replacement of
a person with his dedication, years of experience, ability to handle
subordinates, bilingual ability, and energy would be extremely
difficult,
This department is most desirous of retaining his services.

classification as Custodian Foreman.
No significant abnormalities were noted since his last examination
and is physically qualified to continue in his present capacity
for one year.
