Please place an item on the March 23, 1978 Agenda to ratify and
confirm the actions of the City Manager in accepting the bid and
executing a contract for the construction of foundations and earth
work consisting of concrete spread footings, concrete columns and
walls, masonry wall, membrane waterproofing, and backfillin; of
selected materials to grade, on the east side of N. W. 3 Avenue
between N. W. 2 and 3 Streets.
This action is necessary to confirm the actions taken by authority
of Resolution No. 77-793 dated October 13, 1977, which authorized
the City Manager to receive bids and award contracts, as necessary
to comply with the time schedule imposed by the Economic Develop-
ment Administration for the Local Public Works Capital Development
and Improvement Project Grant, for the construction of a new
Administration Building.
This project was properly advertised and only one bid was received on
March 8, 1978, the bid of L. Milton Construction Corp. in the amount
of $195,000.
The Department of Public Works reviewed the proposal, and, after
discussions with Morris Kaufmann, Project Coordinator, recommenda-
tion was made to award contract as above specified.
To accomplish the Economic Development Authority requirement that
work on the site commence on or before March 29, 1978, the City
Manager was authorized by Resolution No. 77-793 to execute the
construction contracts so that work will commence in accordance
with the schedule.
THE CITY MANAGER AND THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS RECOMMEND THE
ADOPTION OF THE ATTACHED RESOLUTION CONFIRMING AND RATIFYING THE
ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER AS AUTHORIZEID BY RESOLUTION NO. 77-793
