Morales Chief of Police FILE ld I respectfully request to retire one of our police horses. Apollo was placed into the service of the City of Miami's Mounted Patrol Unit in 2007 and has served the City of Miami with distinction for over 18 years. Apollo is approaching 22 years old and is no longer fit for police work as he is suffering from arthritis which is a result of his older age. Upon your approval, Apollo would be retired to (Retired) City of Miami Police Commander Norberto Blanco. Commander Blanco's property has adequate acreage and is equipped with horse stalls and a turnout area to ensure that Apollo will be well provided for. In the past, Commander Blanco had previously adopted and cared for one of our horses, Rusty, who retired from the Mounted Patrol Unit approximately 10 years ago. Commander Blanco has cared for horses throughout his life and wishes to provide Apollo with a loving home.
