Consideration of gn Amendment to Ordindnee 071, ARTICLE XXV,13AME BUILDING LINES, Section 1, as fellows! Add Paragraph: (97=A) 9th Avenue, NW, NW 15th Street to NW 18th Street...35 Delete Paragraph (98) in its entirety and add a new Pardm graph as follows: (98) 10th Avenue, NW, NW 19th Street to NW 20th Street...35 REQUEST To change base building lines on NW 9th and 10th Avenues consistent with long range development plans for Jackson Memorial Hospital. EXPLANATION The proposed amendments would change the base building lines (distance from center line of street) on: NW 9th Avenue, from NW 15th Street to NW 18th Street from 25' to 35' =i NW 10th Avenue, from NW I4th Terrace to NW 19th Street from 35' to 25' and wouid retain the present 35' distance on NW 10th Avenue trom NW i9th Street to NW 20th Street. IACI<GROUND Long-range planning for the Jackson Memorial Hospital complex, as shown in the Jackson Memorial Hospital Master Plan of 1975 which has been accepted by the Public Health Trust as a planning guideline visualizes street improvements around the complex. The most important of these proposed improvements is a "ring - road" concept in order to rationalize traffic circulation patterns between through and local traffic. The proposal under considera- tion would serve to accomplish one segment of the ring road. Ultimately, it is the intention of Jackson Hospital to propose to the City that this portion of 10th Avenue be converted to a pedes- trian way and that 9th Avenue be extended as a ring road. The Street and Plat Committee has recommended a tentative plat for the area encompassing IOth Avenue and west right-of-way of 9th Avenue. Private property owners, other than Jackson Hospital, east of 9th Avenue, will be affected by this proposal. RECOMMENDATIONS PLANNING Approval; in accordance with the recommendation of the Street DEPARTMENT and Plat Committee.
