HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-78-0126RESOLUTION NO: 7 8" 1 2, G A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING THE SUM OF $5,000 FROM THE CONTINGENCY FUND OF THE CITY OF MIAMI TO BE EXPENDED BY THE CITY MANAGER, AS NECESSARY, FOR EXPENSES INVOLVED IN GIVING INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC CONCERNING THE PROPOSED $15,000,000 STORM SEWER BOND ISSUE, WHICH BOND ISSUE WILL BE VOTED UPON AT A SPECIAL BOND ELECTION IN THE CITY OF MIAMI ON MARCH 7, 1978, AS PROVIDED BY ORDINANCE NO: 8737; AND TO INFORM THE. CITY VOTERS AS TO TI3il�i SUPPORTIVE �V/r IMPORTANCE THAT RAPID TRANSIT IS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI. DOCUMENTS FOLLOW" WHEREAS, the City Commission on January 11, 1978, passed Ordinance No. 8737 providing for the Bolding of a special storm sewer bond election on March 7, 1978; and WHEREAS, the Commission passed Motion 78-15 authorizing and directing the City Manager to prepare a bilingual fact sheet on the subject of rapid transit to be distributed to all registered voters in the City of Miami in order that they may be informed of the importance of the rapid transit issue; and WHEREAS, the City Commission on January 24, 1978, allocat- ed $18,000 from the Contingency Fund for this purpose, but that addi- tional funds will be needed to increase the amount of information to be provided to the Citizens of Miami; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The sum of $5,000 is hereby allocated from the Contingency Fund of the City of Miami to be expended by the City Manager, as necessary, for expenses involved in giving information to the public concerning the proposed $15,000,000 storm sewer bond issue, which bond issue will be voted upon at a special election in the City of Miami on r.larch 7, 1978, as provided by Ordinance No. 8737, and to inform the voters of the City of Miami of the importance rapid transit is to the City of Miami. Section 2. Any and all funds allocated from the Contingency fund of the City of Miami in connection with the public information acti- vity regarding the $15,000,000 storm sewer bond issue shall be reimburse "DOCUMENT INDX IM,1 i�� 1,1. 78 126 RESOLUTION Page 2 in full to said Contingency Fund from funds derived from the aforesaid storm sewer bond issue. To accomplish that, we will need to increase the original allocation by $5,000. The attached Resolution will be needed to accomplish the additional funding need- ede
