WilEN THEY DIET,
Gabriela already was well
trained in Judaisin which was
to become her way of life as
well as his. It had begun in
Stoll) where her father was
an attorney and furniture
manufacturer, was continued
for two years in Panama, and
then polished in Jacksonville
where her father got into the
grocery business and ac-
counting profession. The
family belonged to both the
Conservative and Reforin
congregations there.
Airs. Landan had cone to
New York to study photogra-
phy. She became the assistant
to Fritz lienle, a former Life
staff member who served
several other major maga-
zines and did a lot of prize-
winning specialty work.
She's had many shows of her
own,
With her she had taken her
concept of Rosh Hashanah,
the Jewish New Year, being
celebrated today,, as a time

when "It is extremely
important for people to stop
and understand what life is
all about, to take stock of
oneself."
But that concept Frew as
the wife ot a rabbi, ''Inc
whole tone of the hoirelinid
is different," explained Mrs.
Landau, "There is a special
kind of sanctity mul an
awareness of the families and
strangers in the community."
