RESOLUTION NO:
A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY AUTHORIZING THE
CLOSING OF S. W, 8TH STREET AND CERTAIN STREETS
FROM BEACOM BOULEVARD (27TH AVENUE) TO 12TH
AVENUE ON SUNDAY, MARCH 12, 1978 FOR THE OPEN
HOUSE 8 PROJECT ORGANIZED BY THE MIAMI HERALD
AND THE KIWANIS CLUB OF LITTLE HAVANA,
WHEREAS, Open House Eight is an invitation to "Calle
Ocho", inviting the whole community to visit S. W. 8th Street
where the people of that area will have a chance to show their
hospitality; and
WHEREAS, a series of attractions has been planned to
add color and flavor including different groups of musicians, art
shows and displays, special food menus, and other entertainment;
and
WHEREAS, the community will be invited to leisurely
walk, ride bikes, stroll, skate or tram so that the whole community
will enjoy, become familiar with the area and feel free to come
visit at any time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1.
a. The closing of the following streets on
March 12, 1978, from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. for the Open House 8
project is hereby conditionally authorized:
S. W. 8th Street from Beacom Boulevard to 12th Avenue;
The avenues from 9th Street to 7th Street between
Beacom Boulevard and S. W. 15th Avenue,except 17th and
22nd Avenue which will remain open;
S. W. loth Street Road from 8th to 9th Street;
The avenues from S. W. loth Street to 7th Street
between 14th and 12th Court.
b. One lane on S. W. 8th Street shall be
kept clear of obstructions (booths, stages, etc.) for emergency
