Grassie City Manager 3500 Pan Drive Miami, Florida 33i33 Dear Mr, Grassie: November 15, 1977 sga Mw OW CD m. >16 This is a letter requesting 15-16 gray vinyl athletic mats formerly owned by the Police Department located at the Miami Stadium. The Tenant Education Association of Miami, an organi- zation funded by the City, County and Federal Government. I spoke with several officers at the Police Station, including Lt. Speakman. I was told that the mats were used in the training Department at the old Police Station. They were left there last June. The Police Department says they have no further use for the mats, as I've said they haven't been used in over a year. I was told they have little sal- vage value and are not suitable for their purposes. Since they have been sitting for over a year, June 19760 I thought, we being a needy and community oriented organi- zation, might be able to utilize them as tumbling mats. I was told that the proper way to approach this was to make a formal request through your office and that you would, in turn contact the Chief,. who would in turn contact Officer Speakman. I hope that you will be able to honor my request. Thank you, k_ ! c Mark Perrault Assistant Director T.E.A.M. tin ! These mats were purchased in about 1968 by the Training Unit and are no longer serviceable for our needs. They are in very poor condition with torn coverings and loose ticking. The estimated value of each mat is approximately $1.00. The mats are located in the former Civilian Identification Office, 881 N.W. 23 Street in the MiaMi Stadium Building. JOS:wmt • t ' /77
