Very Special Arts Festival
Authorizing Resolution
(1)
The National Committee: Arts for the Handicapped has awarded the City
of :Miami a $5,000 grant to conduct a three-day "Very Special Arts
Festival."
The purpose of this F•'estival is to provide an opportunity for people who
are handicapped and have artistic skills to demonstrate their creative
abilities. It is to consist of an exhibition at the New World Bicentenn-
ial Park a:;well as workshops conducted for the handicapped participants.
The total cost for the program is $38,550: The $5,000 grant plus $33,550
in Cit•: cash or "in -kind" services as specified in the application.
Of the $33,550 City contribution, $22,875 can be provided in "in -kind"
services currently budgeted under CETA and Federal Revenue Sharing
social _;cervices. The remaining $10,67" can be provided in the City's
1977-7:i "Matching Funds for Federal Grants" account in Special Programs
and Accounts.
Attached please find a draft resolution authorizing you to accept the
grant award. An ordinance appropriating the $5,000 award and the $10,675
cash match has been transmitted to you separately.
