A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED AMENDMENT To THE
EXISTING AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY
COLLEGE FOR THE PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT OF
STUDENTS AS RECREATIONAL LEADERS, TO PROVIDE
FOR AN INCREASE IN THE HOURLY -WAGE RATE FROM
$2 . 30 PER HOUR TO S2.65 PER HOUR, EFFECTIVE
JANUARY 1, 1978, WITH FUNDING THEREFOR FROM
DEPARTMENTALLY -BUDGETED FUNDS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE. CITY OF
M1AMI , FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized
to execute the attached Amendment tM the existing Agreement
with Miami -Dade.' Community College for the part-time employment
of students as recreational leaders, to provide for an increase
in the hourly -wage rate from S2. 30 per hour to $2.65 per hour,
of f e ct i ve January 1 , 19 78. with funding; therefor from depnrt-
menta11y-budgeted funds.

Study Program
The Junior College Work Study Program is an important
ingredient in our departmentts total operation for we are
giving a maximum of twenty (20) students the opportunity
to work fifteen (1 :) hours a week in their chosen field
and they, in turn, provide a viable service to the community.
Recently, the minimum hourly rate was increased from
$2. 33 to $2.. c, per hour. This rate increase can be
absorbed in the total program inasmuch as we never reach
our total complement of twenty ('0) students at any one
time. The .Junior College pays `40"„ of their salary and
the Cite pays the remaining �0
It is important for our department, the community, and
these students that the Junior College Work Study Pro,rani
be continued.
