We were taken off the agenda after applying for an amendment to our Building Permit, at which time we removed these underground items from our drawings; however, the problem still exists and again we respectfully request that the be placed on the agenda as soon as possible to go before the City Commission. 1 would like to stress that our difficulties in solving our underground utility is a result of the underground parking, which takes the entire site and which we are providing at great expense. Please contact us if any other information should be required. RN:bb Enclosure cc: V. E. Grimm, Jr. .. .... ......... Sincerely, y.&4. tge40 Rex Nichols Project Architect AiY Mr, Joseph Grassie City Manager City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Mr, Grassier October 14, 1977 Re: Mayfair in the Grove As you know, we are developing a' shopping area on the corner of Mary Street and Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove named 111,layf.air in the Grove". As the archi,, tect and one of the developers of i.iayfair, I feel that it will be a substantial asset to the shopping environment of the Coconut Grove village center. It is the first structure to follow closely the parameters of C2A Ordnance which was passed by the City Ct)inn issinn about a year ago encouraging boutique shopping with interior courtyards and public spaces where shoppers and vi.`;ittrs can stroll. In addition to this courtyard concept of the C2A Ordinance, we are also providing two levels of underground parking which was encouraged by the (,'A Ordinance and which will give the '1e!ccssary tiff -street parking to the shoppers ;without the obvious eye-, sore of a large. ;ri rking :structure or parking lot. This underground parking takes the_ entire site, and, therefore, inhibits the ability for us to put gas storage tanks and grease interceptors t111 our property. We did find ti1,;?t:e' to put some of this equipment on our property, but we find now that we v:i11 'feed to place: three 1, 000-gallon lltitlitl petroleum gas tanks and one 2,000-.; 11on , r _.;e interceptor under the public .4idt Xalk. e: •o:tva41 . ... (;ontiniied hlr 0 October 14 197i Page Two The Public Works Department has informed us that this is unacceptable to diem) and therefore) we will have to appeal to the City Commission for pertnissioh to place these itetns in the public rightjof-way, We; therefore) respoctftiily rem quest that we he given a place on the agenda as soon as possible before the City Commission to ask for this approval. I generally do not like to ask for any special exceptions, but this is a special problem brought on by the desire to conform to the C2A Ordinance and also our desire to provide underground parking. I thank you inadv.tnce for your kind attention to this rnatter. Sincerely. r {i.Iln,a.li 'r • iSter K'r. jw 1'nclo:;nre: Site 11;tns cc: '.ir.
