WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade County Transportation Planning Organization (the "TPO"), formerly the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Miami Urbanized Area, is the federally designated metropolitan planning organization for Miami -Dade County, created and established by Interlocal Agreement pursuant to the Florida Interlocal Cooperation Act, section 163.01, Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, Section 339.176, Florida Statutes, provides that any metropolitan planning organization whose geographical boundaries include a county, must include an additional voting member appointed by each city with a population of 50,000 or more residents, thereby entitling the City of Miami to appoint a voting member to the TPO Governing Board; and WHEREAS, on December 9, 2021, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. R-21- 0509 appointing Mayor Francis Suarez to serve as the City's representative to the TPO for a four-year term ending December 9, 2025; and WHEREAS, Mayor Francis Suarez plans to voluntarily resign from the TPO Governing Board, creating a vacancy for the City -appointed seat; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to appoint Commissioner Damian Pardo to serve as the City's representative for the remainder of the current term ending December 9, 2025, and to serve the following four-year term ending December 9, 2029; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Commissioner Damian Pardo is hereby appointed as a member of the Miami - Dade County Transportation Planning Organization to fill the current vacancy and complete the remaining term of Mayor Francis Suarez, ending December 9, 2025, and is further appointed to serve the subsequent four-year term ending December 9, 2029.
