A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-
137 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY
CODE"), CO -DESIGNATING SOUTHWEST 20TH AVENUE BETWEEN WEST
FLAGLER STREET AND SOUTHWEST 3RD STREET AS "HERMANOS GARCIA
WAY," IN HONOR OF ARSENIO, JUAN, AND FELIX RAMON GARCIA, THE
FOUNDERS OF LA CAMARONERA SEAFOOD JOINT AND FISH MARKET;
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO
EFFECTUATE THE CODESIGNATION; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY
CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN
DESIGNATED OFFICIALS.

FLAGLER STREET AND SOUTHWEST 3RD STREET AS "HERMANOS GARCIA
WAY," IN HONOR OF ARSENIO, JUAN, AND FELIX RAMON GARCIA, THE
FOUNDERS OF LA CAMARONERA SEAFOOD JOINT AND FISH MARKET;
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO
EFFECTUATE THE CODESIGNATION; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY
CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN
DESIGNATED OFFICIALS.
WHEREAS, in 1976, Cuban immigrant brothers, Felix Ramon Garcia, Juan Garcia, and
Arsenio Garcia established La Camaronera Seafood Joint and Fish Market in Miami's Little
Havana, building upon their earlier venture, Garcia Brothers Seafood, a seafood market and
wholesaler founded in 1966; and
WHEREAS, the Garcia brothers expanded their business in 1973 by adding deep fryers
to cook and sell their fresh catch, leading to the opening of La Camaronera in its current location
in 1976, initially operating with a standing -only counter; and
WHEREAS, La Camaronera has become a beloved institution in Miami, known for its
Cuban -style seafood and cultural significance, and in 2013, under the leadership of Arsenio's
son, David Garcia, the restaurant added a sit-down dining area while preserving its original
charm and legacy; and
WHEREAS, the Garcia brothers' entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to their community
have left an indelible mark on the cultural and culinary landscape of Miami; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it fitting to honor the Garcia brothers by co -
designating Southwest 20th Avenue between West Flagler Street and Southwest 3rd Street as
"Hermanos Garcia Way";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby co -designates Southwest 20th Avenue
between West Flagler Street and Southwest 3rd Street as "Hermanos Garcia Way" as a lasting
tribute to the Garcia brothers legacy in the City of Miami.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to take all necessary steps to implement this co -
designation, including the installation of appropriate signage.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the
Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste; the Miami -Dade County Department of
Transportation and Public Works; the Miami -Dade County Commissioner of District 5; the
United States Postal Service; and, if a State of Florida road, to the Florida Department of
Transportation, District Six, for sign installation within the newly designated roadway.
Section 5. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
