youth.

Implementation Plan
Demographics
BBBSMIAMI's programs reach a diverse community of Littles (youth mentees) and their families. Our
demographic is comprised primarily of the following: 54.22% identify as Black or African American,
25.9% identify as Hispanic, and 16.27% identify as multi-racial/multi-ethnic. These communities have
historically been characterized by economic challenges and other systemic barriers, including under-
resourced schools and high student -to -teacher ratios, which translate to limited access to educational
and career opportunities. BBBSMIAMI's programs are designed to bridge these gaps by providing
mentorship, tutoring, test preparation, and vocational training — all tailored to meet the needs of the
Littles.
Programs and Services Overview
BBBSMIAMI will use this grant from City of Miami to accomplish the mission of each our programs -
Community -Based, Site -Based, Group Engagement and Mentoring, and School to Work - outlined
below.
Community -Based Program: At the heart of BBBSMIAMI 's initiatives lies the transformative power of
EXHIBIT B - BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS of MIAMI
community -based mentoring. This program thoughtfully pairs Littles with compassionate and
dedicated volunteer mentors ("Bigs"), fostering relationships that serve as a cornerstone for positive
change. These matches are carefully curated based on shared interests, backgrounds, and ambitions,
cultivating a deep and enduring bond.
Bigs and Littles embark on a journey of mutual exploration and enjoyment within their local
communities, engaging in a diverse array of activities at least twice monthly. Whether meeting during
tranquil weekend mornings or lively weekday evenings, each match crafts a unique rhythm that
resonates with their individual lifestyles.
The spectrum of shared experiences is both varied and enriching, ranging from leisurely strolls in the
park, immersive visits to museums, appreciating music, exhilarating sports events, beach outings, to the
simple joy of savoring ice cream. These ordinary moments are pivotal in providing Littles with a platform
to feel heard, supported, and positively guided.
Behind the scenes, BBBSMIAMI's dedicated staff, full time employees and contractors, play a crucial role.
They work in tandem with the Bigs and the families of Littles, nurturing these relationships and offering
guidance and support, especially in navigating complex situations that may arise.
This community -based mentoring approach constitutes approximately 20% of BBBSMIAMI's impactful
matchmaking, with the remaining 80% encompassing site -based mentoring, the Group Engagement and
Mentoring, and the School to Work program. Together, these initiatives underscore BBBSMIAMI's
commitment to nurturing future leaders, strengthening families, and building a cohesive community. The
City of Miami funding will allow BBBSMIAMI to increase its recruitment of mentoring matches, i.e. Bigs,
Littles and families.
Deliverables: Expand the number of youth reached through community -based mentoring, which is
currently serving 363 Littles. A Youth Outcome Development Plan (YODP) is developed for all Littles,
which tracks academic performance, self-confidence, and school engagement. The City of Miami will
receive a final report on the number of Littles served and a program assessment report based on the
surveys.
Site -Based Program: Site -based mentoring offers a unique and structured approach to personal
development for Littles. This program meticulously pairs these Littles with their Bigs, experienced mentors
who commit to nurturing a positive and impactful relationship. The essence of this program lies in its
consistent and location -specific meetings, typically held either during school hours or post -school sessions
at BBBSMIAMI's headquarters. Each week, for an hour, these pairs engage in a variety of activities, ranging
from academic assistance to leisure activities like sports, board games, and meaningful conversations.
Unlike traditional tutoring, site -based mentoring emphasizes holistic guidance over academic instruction.
It fosters a supportive environment where Littles receive not just academic help but also life lessons and
moral support. This format has been empirically proven to enhance the academic and personal growth of
the participants. The benefits observed in Littles participating in this program include:
Notable improvements are made in the following areas: academic performance, indicating a positive
impact on their educational journey; significant boost in self-confidence, empowering them to face various
life challenges; and an enhanced attitude towards school, promoting a healthier and more productive
learning environment. The City of Miami funding will allow BBBSMIAMI to increase its recruitment of
mentoring matches, i.e. Bigs, Littles and families.

final report on the number of tittles served and a program assessment report based on the surveys.
Group Engagement and Mentoring (GEM): In response to the diverse and growing needs of the City of
Miami's youth, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami (BBBSMIAMI) has innovatively designed the Group
Engagement and Mentoring (GEM) program. Hosted at BBBSMIAMI's state-of-the-art headquarters, GEM
leverages a meticulously crafted curriculum with proven positive outcomes for tittles. The program's
effectiveness is continually assessed through detailed metrics to ensure the achievement of specific
mentoring objectives, evaluated both before and after each GEM session. The City of Miami funding will
allow BBBSMIAMI to continue to provide support for the tittles enrolled in this program.
Deliverables: Currently 189 tittles are served afterschool and during the summer through this program.
The goal is to continue to provide services to as many tittles and families who need it. A Youth Outcome

number of tittles served and a program assessment report based on the surveys.
School to Work Program (STW): School to Work (workplace mentoring) is a transformative
one-to-one mentoring initiative that equips high school students with essential career readiness and job -
shadowing experiences directly in the professional environments of their mentors. This program
empowers organizations to contribute positively to the community by welcoming local youth into their
workplaces, fostering a culture of learning and development.
In collaboration with the City of Miami's public schools and esteemed corporate partners, BBBSMIAMI
facilitates the monthly transportation of students (tittles) to selected corporate sites where they receive
mentorship from their Big. Beyond shadowing and mentoring, these students immerse themselves in
real workplace environments, uncovering various career paths while engaging in a structured curriculum
designed to enhance job preparation skills. This includes learning about professional attire and the
importance of higher education for career advancement, which steers tittles towards improved
academic achievements, high school completion, and post -secondary education or training. Corporate
partners host a dedicated session on career pathways for the tittles of the School to Work program
before engaging in personalized job shadowing and mentoring sessions.
The program adopts an innovative approach to career pathways through Academy -Industry Alignment,
where students in career -focused academies are paired with professionals in related fields. For instance,
those studying hospitality may be paired with mentors from the hotel or cruise industry, thereby linking
academic learning to real -world professional experience. This connection not only enriches students'
appreciation for their studies but also paves the way for internship and future employment
opportunities, truly embodying the essence of what School to Work aims to achieve: shaping the future
workforce by bridging education and industry.
Deliverables: Expand the number of youth reached through the School to Work program, which is
currently serving 687 tittles. A Youth Outcome Development Plan (YODP) is developed for all tittles. The
City of Miami will receive a final report on the number of tittles served and a program assessment report
based on the surveys.
