City Clerk May 21, 2025 Miami City Commission Miami, Florida Dear Honorable City Commissioners, I am writing to express my strong support for the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and to urge you to reject any proposal to eliminate this vital organization. As the owner of three commercial properties totaling over 80,000 square feet on East Flagler Street, I've seen firsthand the DDA's invaluable role in strengthening our downtown community. The DDA has been an active and responsive partner to both me and my tenants. From helping new businesses navigate permitting, to providing access to crucial grants during Flagler's reconstruction, their team —especially Christina Crespi, Elvira Manon, MJ Green, Carlos Garcia, Myrna Ace, and Wanda Mendez —has gone above and beyond. Their efforts have not only supported tenant success, but also made it easier to operate as a landlord downtown. Beyond individual support, the DDA provides essential services that improve quality of life —enhanced police presence, daily sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal, public space maintenance, and homeless outreach. Their initiatives directly impact the safety, cleanliness, and vitality of the district. My tenants consistently note that customers feel safer and more welcome downtown today. The DDA has also driven economic activity by offering business incentives, organizing cultural events, and activating public spaces. These efforts boost foot traffic, attract investment, and support local entrepreneurs. The Flagler Street Beautification Project is just one example of their long-term vision —transforming our urban core into a dynamic, walkable destination. As a stakeholder and taxpayer, I can attest that the DDA is efficient, accountable, and highly impactful. Eliminating it would be short- sighted and detrimental to the progress we've made. I urge you to protect the future of Downtown Miami by continuing to support the DDA. Thank you for your time and service.
