City of Miami Legislation Resolution Enactment Number: R-25-0401 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 18176 Final Action Date:9/25/2025 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING NO OBJECTION AND SUPPORTING THE PLACEMENT OF A FLORIDA HISTORICAL MARKER IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED AT SOUTHWEST 37 AVENUE AND SOUTHWEST 20 STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA TO COMMEMORATE THAT CORAL GATE BECAME MIAMI'S FIRST PLANNED SUBDIVISION IN 1948 AND BECAME THE CITY'S FIRST NEIGHBORHOOD CONSERVATION DISTRICT IN 2002; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICIALS. WHEREAS, a request has been made by residents of Coral Gate in the City of Miami ("City") to place a Florida Historical Marker in the public right-of-way located at Southwest 37th Avenue and Southwest 20th Street Miami, Florida ("Marker Location"); and WHEREAS, the marker shall commemorate that Coral Gate was Miami's first planned subdivision in 1948 and in 2002 becoming the City's first neighborhood conservation district; and WHEREAS, Coral Gate is a community with 460 single-family homes with no through streets, which is bounded by Southwest 22nd Street on the South, Southwest 37th Avenue on the West, Southwest 16th Street on the North and Southwest 32nd Avenue on the East; and WHEREAS, the City Commission declares no objection and supports the placement of this Florida Historical Marker located at the Marker Location; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission declares no objection and supports placement of a Florida Historical Marker at the Marker Location subject to such language on the Florida Historical Marker being approved by the City's Administration. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, to effectuate the purpose of this Resolution. 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Florida Department of Historical Resources. Section 5.
