City of Miami Legislation Resolution Enactment Number: R-25-0398 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 18171 Final Action Date:9/25/2025 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTION 54- 137 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"), CO -DESIGNATING NORTHEAST 73 STREET A BLOCK EAST OF NORTHEAST MIAMI COURT AS "ADOLPHE ADRAS WAY" IN HONOR OF ADOLPHE ADRAS' CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO EFFECTUATE THE CODESIGNATION; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICIALS. WHEREAS, Adolphe Adras, born July 15, 1952, immigrated from Haiti in 1980 in pursuit of a better life with a chance to build something meaningful, laying strong roots in the heart of the Little Haiti community; and WHEREAS, in 1995, Adolphe Adras opened Adolphe Take Out Restaurant & Supermarket, which quickly became more than just a business but a vital cornerstone of the neighborhood, providing not only meals but also dignity, compassion, and opportunity to countless underserved families; and WHEREAS, Adolphe Adras impact was immeasurable as a true anchor in his community due to his dedication and deep belief in helping others grow financially, spiritually and personally by offering employment to those in need, donating food to struggling families or mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs; and WHEREAS, Adolphe Adras was instrumental in spearheading humanitarian relief to Haiti after the devasting earthquake, sending pallets of essential supplies and supporting local churches in both the United States and abroad; and WHEREAS, in March 28, 2021, Adolphe Adras passed away at the age of 68 and will be remembered as a compassionate business owner, a community hero, and a beacon of hope, whose legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to ripple through the community for generations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby co -designates Northeast 73rd Street a block East of Northeast Miami Court as "Adolphe Adras Way" in honor of his dedicated service and lasting impact on the community. Section 3. The City Manager is directed to take all necessary steps to effectuate this co - designation, including the installation of appropriate signage. Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste; the Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works; the Miami -Dade County Commissioner of District 3; the United States Postal Service; and, if a State of Florida road, to the Florida Department of Transportation, District Six, for sign installation within the newly designated roadway.
