A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE FORMAL
REQUEST TO OBTAIN SPECIAL FEDERAL CENSUS OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR A SUM SUFFICIENT TO DEFRAY
THE EXPENSES OF A SUPERVISOR OF CENSUS IN CONNECTION WITH
TAKING SAME; AND AUTHORIZING SAID CITY MANAGER TO ENTER .
INTO NECESSARY AGREEMENTS THEREFOR.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami deems it neces-
sary that an official United. States Census be taken of the said City of
Miami for the purpose of ascertaining the number of persons residing
within the corporate limits of said City of Miami, Dade County, Florida;
and
WHEREAS a United States official Census is of the most importance
in matters pertaining to the finances of the City of Miami in qualifying
and makinj eligible its securities and municipal bonds for investments;and.
WHEREA.S, the present census does not indicate the actual existing
population of the City of Miami because of the very phenominal and extra-
ordinary growth in the past six years since the last Federal Census was
taken in 1920;
ITOW, Tlaoi fORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI:
Section 1. That the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized
and directed to make formal request addressed to the Director of Census of
the United States Government to have a special census taken under Federal
supervision for the City of riami, Dade County, Florida.
Section 2. That the City Manager be, and he hereby is, further
authorized and directed to enter into any agreements, for and on behalf
of the City of riami, with the Director of Census as necessary for having
such Federal Census tahon.

apr,roDriated from the Publiaity Fund of the City of Miami to pay prelimin-
ary expenses of the lupe2visor in connection with taking said census and
the Director of Finance i2 hereby directed to deposit to the credit of
the Director of Census in the First Kational Bank of LIioji the said. sum
of :50C.00.
