AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE HANDLING OF GARAGE IN THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FIXING THE RATE FOR SUCH SER
VIDING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION.

Section 1. That for the purposes of this ordinance the word
"garbage" is hereby defined to mean every refuse accumulation of
animal, fruit or vegetable matter that attends
cooking and dealing in, or storage of, meats,
vegetables.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any pare firm, or cor-
poration to remove or convey, or to cause or permit to be removed or
conveyed any garbage upon or along any public street, alley, or other
public place, in the City of Miami; except in cases where a special
permit to remove, or cause to have removed, garbage, shall be granted
to any person, firm or corporation by the Department of Public Welfare;
and auoh permit may revoked by said Department of Publio Welfare at
any time for cause.
Section 3. All garbage in the city of Miami shall first be
thoroughly drained of all liquid matter and then tightly wrapped in
paper and deposited in the covered metal garbage Dane furnished by
y of Miami. All tin oans shall likewise be deposited in the
etal garbage Dane. And no other material, of whatsoever
r, other than the foregoing, shall be planed in the aforesaid
sans. These Dana shall be kept tightly covered at all
when it is necessary to lift the covers to deposit gar-
bage therein.
Section 4. All other waste, trash or rubbish accumulating on
the premiaee of any department store, shop, restaurant, hotel, board-
ing house or other like oommeroial establishment should be deposited
in a regulation reoeptacle whioh will be provided by the City of Miami
upon the payment to tho Department or Finance the sum of siz dollars
(06.0Q) per annum as a rental charge; households shall provide metal
oovere4 barrels for these accumulations of waste, trash and rubbish.

trash require more frequent collections, such a service shall be
given only upon payment of a charge of ten oer1s .10) for each can

Section 9. Any person violating Iny of tbo provisions of this
ordinanoe shall f every such violation, upon conviction thereof, be
subjeot to a fi f no less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than
fifty dolla'($50. or to imprisonment for not less than five days
or•more than fifteen days.
Seotion 10. This ordinance is hereby declared by the City Com-
mission to be neoessary for the immediate perservation of the public
health and shall go into effeot from the date of its passage by the
City Commission.
