HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02652RESOLUTION NO. 2652. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH HARRINGTON, HOWARD & ASH. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI: That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorised and directed to execute for and, on behalf of the City of Migmj , an agreement with Harrington, Howard and Ash for making plans and specifications for four (4) bridges over the Miami River, said agreement being in the following form, to -wit: AGREEMENT. THIS AGREEMENT made this - day of April, A. D. 1926, between THE CITY OF MIAMI, a municipal corporation of Dade County, Florida, party of the one part hereinafter called the IHMPLOYER", and HA IRI GTON, HOWARD AND ASH, a partnerehip, party of the other part hereinafter called the "ENGINEERS". 1. The said Engineers agree to make such preliminary drawings and estimates of quantities as may be necessary to determine the most practical lay -out for each crossing. These studies shall also be made with the view of determining the desirability of using the dame plans and specifications for two or mote of the bascule spans. S. sifter the plan has been determined upon, said engineers will prepare complete detailed plans, specifications and esti- mates for each bascule span and approaches thereto, including operators' houses, but excluding lights and roadway surface and gates. 3. The ,ingineers agree to check all shop drawings or other worLinC drawings submitted by any contractor who may be awarded the contract to build the bridge, and will supervise the work of the Inspection Bureau which the Oity may eni loy to inspect the manufacture of metal work. 4. The engineers agree, during the construction of the bridges, to answer such Questions as may be submitted to the Lansas ity office of the said Engineers and which may be answer- ed by correapondence, and further agree that one of the firm will visit the work during construction when so requested by the Em- ployer; provided, however, that all traveling expenses are to be paid by the Employer. 5. The Employer agrees to pay to the Engineers for services enumerated in paragraphs "1"' to "4'* inclusive, the sum of four per cent. (4%) of the contract costs of the work included in the plans and specifications, provided, however, that said four per cent. (4%) 'shall not exceed the sum of Eight Thousand ($8,000.00) Dollars for each of the bridges at N. W. 12th Avenue, N. 1P. 17th Avenue and $. W. let Street, and not to exceed the sum of Ten Thousand ($10,000.00) Dollars for the bridge at S. E. 2nd Avenue; provided, however, that for such plans as may be used in more than one bridge the fee for said Engineers shall be as stated above for the original plane and specifi- cations and one-half of such fee for each additional structure in which the original plans are used. In event the plans for one'struc- ture are made to serve for another by making modifications in certain minor parts, the plane so modified shall be considered as a duplicate set, except that the Engineers shall receive, in addition to the fees above mentioned, actual costs as shown by our books, in making the neces- sary modifications. 6. Eightyper cent. (80%) of the above mentioned fees shall be due and payable upon acceptance by the Employer of the approved plans and specifications and the remainder shall be payable quarterly as pro -rated with the construction estimate or within one year after the said ac- ceptance by the Employer. 7. The Employer agrees to furnish all data necessary in the pre- paration of plans and specifications, without cost to the Engineers. 8. .should the Employer desire photographic studies of any struo- ture, the said Engineers agree to prepare same at actual cost, and the Employer agrees to pay Lngineers for each photographic study a sum not to exceed One Hundred Fifty ($160.00) Dollars.
