Subject: Approve Annual Budget FY '26 - Miami Arts and Entertainment Council
Purpose of Item:
The Miami Arts and Entertainment Council (MAEC) requests that the City Commission
approve the attached resolution requesting $37,151.96 to provide for the management,
operations, maintenance to Miami Arts and Entertainment Council for the fiscal year
commencing October 1, 2025 and ending September 30, 2026.
Background of Item:
The City of Miami ("City") created and established the City of Miami Arts and
Entertainment Council ("MAEC") pursuant to Ordinance No.12192, adopted March 7,
2002.
MAEC is responsible for, among other things, serving in an advisory capacity and make
recommendations and guide the mayor, city commission and city manager regarding
endorsement or support of specific art and entertainment special events, performance
and productions, the acceptance or acquisition of art by the City; soliciting and
accepting grants, contributions and financial and non -financial support from individuals,
private business interests, the general public, governmental entities, corporations and
organizations, foundations and other philanthropic entities; coordinating and originating
cultural and entertainment activities within the city, and to approve the expenditure of
funds in furtherance thereof.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE ANNUAL BUDGET OF THE MIAMI ARTS AND
ENTERTAINMENT COUNCIL ("MAEC"), ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED AS
EXHIBIT "A," IN THE AMOUNT OF THIRTY-SEVEN THOUSAND, ONE HUNDRED
FIFTY-ONE AND 96/100 DOLLARS ($37,151.96) TO PROVIDE FOR THE
OPERATIONS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE MAEC FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2025, AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2026.
WHEREAS, the Miami Arts and Entertainment Council ("MAEC") is a limited agency and
instrumentality of the City of Miami ("City") created pursuant to Ordinance No. 12192, adopted
March 7, 2002, as subsequently amended; and
WHEREAS, the MAEC is responsible for, among other things, serving in an advisory
capacity and make recommendations and guide the Mayor, City Commission and City Manager
regarding endorsement or support of specific art and entertainment special events, performance
and productions, the acceptance or acquisition of art by the City; soliciting and accepting grants,
contributions and financial and non -financial support from individuals, private business interests,
the general public, governmental entities, corporations and organizations, foundations and other
philanthropic entities; coordinating and originating cultural and entertainment activities within the
city, and to approve the expenditure of funds in furtherance thereof; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-1144 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended,
provides that the MAEC shall submit an annual budget ("Budget") and an annual master plan
("Plan") to the City Commission for approval; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the MAEC reviewed and approved the MAEC's
budget in the amount of Thirty -Seven Thousand, One Hundred Fifty -One and 96/100 Dollars
($37,151.96) for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 on July 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the MAEC requests the approval of its Budget in the total amount of Thirty -
Seven Thousand, One Hundred Fifty -One and 96/100 Dollars ($37,151.96) for the Fiscal Year
commencing October 1, 2025, and ending September 30, 2026, attached and incorporated as
Exhibit "A," and the Plan, attached and incorporated as Exhibit "B;"
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The MAEC's Budget in the total amount of Thirty -Seven Thousand, One
Hundred Fifty -One and 96/100 Dollars ($37,151.96) for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1,
2025, and ending September 30, 2026, attached and incorporated as Exhibit "A," and the Plan,
attached and incorporated as Exhibit "B," are approved and adopted.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.

1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
