Background of Item: In July 1992, the State of Florida enacted the William E. Sadowski Affordable Housing Act ("Sadowski Act") which provides for the allocation of a portion of new and existing documentary stamp taxes on deeds on real estate transactions to local governments for the development and maintenance of affordable housing. The Sadowski Act provided a dedicated revenue source for affordable housing and it has created the Florida State Housing Initiative Partnership ("SHIP") program. Pursuant to Resolution No. 25- , on July 24, 2025, the Miami City Commission approved the City of Miami's ("City") LHAP for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028, allowing the City's continued participation in the SHIP program. In June 18, 2025, the City was notified by Florida Housing Finance Corporation a distribution of SHIP funds in the total amount of $2,083,953.00 for State FY2025-2026. The City's Administration recommends the acceptance of SHIP funds in the amount of $2,083,953.00 for FY 2025-2026 for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of SHIP funds, in the total amount of $2,083,953.00 for FY 2025-2026, for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP, is authorized.' Section 3. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
