MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORTDA.
On this 9th day of November, 1926, the Commission of the City of Miami, Florida,
met at the City Hall in said City pursuant to an adjournment taken this date.
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 o'clock P. M., by Aoting Chairman C. D.
Leffler and on roll oall the following members of the Commission were present:

J. E. Lummus,
J. I. Wilson.
ABSENT: E. C.Romfh,
J. H.Gilmen.
BILL POE SUBMERGED LAND
A resolution in reference to the submerged land bill vetoed.byGov®xno Marti-n was
introduced by tar. niacin', who moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIOIN NO. 2226.
A RESOLUTION IN REFERENCE TO THE SUB-
MERGED LAND AS SET FORTH AND SHOWN IN
BILL VETOED BY GOVERNOR MARTIN.
WHEREAS, the City Commissioners of the City of Miami, Florida,
realizing the rppid growth of the commerce of this port and the
great and immediate demand for larger docks, deeper cbannel and
modern facilities for handling oargo, have prepared plans calling
for an expenditure of several million dollars for the oonstruotion
of such docks and warehouses, which said docks shall be connected
by a causeway with the main land on the West shore of Bisoayne Bay,
and on which railways will be built oonnected with and serving all
railways entering Liiami; and
WHEREAS, the City Commissioners had a bill prepared asking the
State Legislatur.c to grant to the City of Miami oartain submerged
land in Biscayne Bay on which to build such docks and warehouses
sufficiently large to meet all demands for years to come, and same
being of great importance to the people of the Southeast Coast of
Florida, especially to the fruit and vegetable growers; and
WHEREAS, Governor Martin, after the Legislature had adjourned,
vetoed the bill because it called for submerged land within the
corporate limits of Liiami Beach, which, had he examined the map, he
would have seen that Miami Could not possibly reach the Sea without
passing through a portion of submerged land within the limits of. the
City of Ltiarni Beach, as the City limits of Miami Beach extend about
two miles "Jest of their ^ bore line.
NOW, TILEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE CO:MISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIALII :
Section 1. That Senator John 7. "Watson and Representative (orris
MoElya be, and they are hereby, requested to use all honorable means
to pass the bill above referred to over the veto of the Governor at
the Special :session of the Legislature which is palled to convene
November 17, 1925.
Section 2. That the City Clark be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to send certified copies of this resolution to both Sena-
tor John W. 'Watson, and Representative Norris HoElya.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of November, A. D. 1925.
Upon being seconded by Lir. Lummus, the said resolution was passed and adopted'by
the following vote: AYES: Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson. NOES: None'.
