MINUTES OF MEETING OF OMISSION AS BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA.
On this 28th day of Ootober, 1925, the Commission of the City of Miami, Florida, met
et the City Hall in Said City ae a Board of Equalization pursuant to an adjournment
taken Ootober 27th, 1925, and pursuant to public notioe thereof. The meeting was
oalled to order at 4:00 o'olook F. U., and on roll call the following members of the
Commission were present:
James H. Gilman,
J. E. Lummus,
J. I. Wilson,
C. D. Leffler.
ABSENT: E. C. Romfb.
The Board of Equalization having bean in session three &aye for the purpose of con-
sidering every written objection filed with it in respeot to any assessments ae
shown on the General Assessment Rolls for the District of Silver Bluff and the Die-
triat of Buena Vista, formerly the Town of Silver Bluff, Florida, and the Town of
Buena Vita, Florida, respectively, as well es for the purpose of considering all
other objections filed with it or wide to it and no objections vAn, been made or
presented to said Board by any person, hie agent or attorney, considering himself
aggrieved, and the Board, upon ite own motion, having made e careful examination of
the General Assessment Rolle for the said Dietriots for the purpose of increasing or
diminishing valuatiens therein and for furnishing name of persons and descriptions
of property improperly omitted from said Rolls, and fixing the values of said proper-
ty, and of correcting errors and supplying defioienoies found therein, the Board de-
termines the aggregate value of the Real Estate made by the Assessor for the District,
of Silver Bluff to be e3,508,708.00 and, the aggregate value of the Reel Estate made
by the Assessor for the District of Buena Vista to be $2,689,700.00; and no further ,
business appearing before the said Board, the board does asoertain and find that the
assessment of property as shown by the said Assessment Rolls submitted by the Asses -
sore for the said Districts and as revised by and determined by the Board of Equali-
zation, is just and oorreot and shall be, and is hereby, approved and considered
final.
LEVYING TAXES AND FIXING LIILLAGE FOR DISTRICT OF BUENA VISTA
It appearing necessary to fix tbe millage and levy taxes in the District known as
Buena Vista for the year beginning July 1, 1925, and ending June 30, 1926, an ordi-
nanoe entitled:
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE LIILLAGE AND LEVYING TAXES IN THE $ -
DISTRICT KNOWN AS BUENA VISTA IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORI-
DA, FOR THE YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1925, AND ENDING JUNE
30, 1926
was introduced by Lir. Leffler. On motion of Lir. Lummus, seconded by Mr. Wilson,'it
was resolved that the charter requirement that ordinances be read on two separate
occasions, unless dispensed with by a four -fifths vote of the Commission, be dispens-
ed with and that the said ordinance be given both readings at this meeting. The
vote thereon was as follows - AYES: Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES:
None. The requirement of reading the said ordinanoe on two separate 000ssions hav-
ing been dispensed with, on motion of Mr. Leffler, seconded by Lir. Wilson, the said
ordinance was given its first reading by title only and passed on its first reading
by the following vote - AYES: Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES: None.
Upon motion of Mr. Leffler, seconded by Mr. Wilson, the said ordinance was given its
second and finelreading in full and passed and adopted on its second and final read-
ing
in full by the following vote - AYES: Meesre. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman.
NOES: None. The said ordinance is designated Ordinance No. 518 and is shown in
full in Ordinance Book 1.

None. The requirement of reading the said ordinance on two separate days having been
dispensed with, on motion of Lir. Leffler, seoonded by Lr. 'ilon, the said ordinance
was given its first reading by title only and passed on its first reading by the fol-
lowing vote - AYES: Mensre. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. 1107,S; None. Upon mo-
tion of Mr. Leffler, seoonded by Mr. Wilson, the said ordinance was given its second
and final reading in full and passed and edopted on its second and final reading in
full by the following vote - AYES: Meesrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES:
None. The said ordinanoe is designated Ordinanoe No. 519 and is shown in full in
ordinance Book 1.

TO HOLD NIG'UT SEcuSIONS OF COURT
Due to oongestion in the Oity Jail the Commission deemed it expedient to provide
for holding sessions of the Munioipal Court nightly, exoept Sundays, and a resolu-
tion appointing D. J. Heffernan as Judge of the. Munioipal Court to hold night
sessions of the Court was introduced by iir. Lummus, who moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2210.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING D. J. HF2FERNAN AS MUNICIPAL JUDGE
OF THE CITY OF LIIAMI, FLORIDA, TO HOLD NIGHTLY TERMS OF
THE MUNICIPAL COURT, AND FIXING THE HOUR OF COURT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COIVISSION OF THE OITY OF MIAMI:
That D. J. Heffernan, of the City of Miami, Florida, be, and he is
hereby, appointed as Municipal Judge of the City of Miami, Florida, at
and during the will of the City Commission of the City of Miami, Florida,
for the purpose of holding nightly terms of the Munioipal Court at:9:00
o'olook eaoh night, exoept Sundays, at which time all officers of the
Court shall be in attendanoe.
Upon being seconded by IIr. Leffler, the said resolution was adopted by the following'`
vote - AYES: Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES: None.
ADJOURNLIENT

seconded, the meeting was adjourned.
