MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI. FLORIDA. On this 28th day of July, 1925, the Commission of the City of Miami, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall in said City, at 9:00 O'clock A. M. On motion of Mr. Lummus, neoonded by Mr..Wilson, Commissioner C. D. Leffler was elected Aoting Chair- men and Mayor by the following vote: AYES; Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES: None. Thereupon the meeting was called to order by Aoting Chairman Leffler and on roll oall the following members were present: C.D. Leffler, J.E. Lummus, J.I. Wilson, J.H. Gilman. ABSENT: P.A. Henderson. RESOLUTION ON THE DEATH OF MAYOR PARKER A. IHENDERSON A resolution on the death of Mayor Parker A. Henderson was offered and on motion duly made and seconded was unanimously adopted by the Commission by the following vote: AYE: Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES: None. Said resolution is in full as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 2066! A RESOLUTION UPON THE DEATH OF MAYOR PARKER A.HENDERSON. WHEREAS, Honorable Parker A. Henderaon,Mayor of Miami, and a member of the CityCommission, died in this City on the 26th day of July, 1985; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commissioners serving with him at the time of his death, desiring totastify to his great worth as an offioial and to his unimpeachable oharaoter as a oitizen, desire to plaoe a wreath of honorable memory upon his name. In the death of Parker A. Henderson the City of Miami lost one of its most loyal and valufd oitizens, and the peo- ple have sustained a great personal loss; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Miami: That all City work shall suspend and all stores are hereby requested to close for one hour during the funeral servioe. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and be is hereby, au- thorized and direoted to send a certified oopy of this resolution to Mrs. Parker A. Henderson. RESOLUTION ON THE DEATH OF WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN A resolution on the death of William Jennings Bryan was offered and on motion duly made and seconded was unanimously adopted by the Commission by the following vote: AYES: Messrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson. Gilman. NOES: None. Said resolution is in full as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 2067. A RESOLUTION ON THE DEATH OF WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN. WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we learn of the death Of William Jennings Bryan, a muoh beloved and respected citizen of Dade County, Florida. Every great country and oommunity recognizes and honors its great men, William Jennings Bryan was oonsidered to have been one of the nation's great men and it may well be said of him that his life was one of aervioe in its true sense, and WHEREAS, in the death of Mr. Bryan the nation has lost one of its greatest statesmen, Florida one of her most honorable citizens and Miami one of her best friends, his passing is as he would have it without lin- gering pain in the very midst of his aotivities and plane be was summon- ed and obeyed, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MI- AMI: That we extend to his immediate family our sinoere and heartfelt sympathy in their great bereavement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Miami be and he is hereby direoted to transmit a oertified copy of this resolution to the wife of our departed friend, William Jennings Bryan. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Gilman made a motion that out of respect for Mayor Henderson that the Commission traneaot no business at this meeting but adjourn until Thursday 3:00 o'olook P. M. Upon being seconded by Mr. Wilson the motion was unanimously oarried by the follow- ing vote: AYES: Idessrs. Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. NOES: None.
