RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF THE
.PITTSBURGB-DESMOINES STEEL COMPANY 70R
THE ERECTION OF TWO TANKS FOR SLUR
STORAGE PURPOSES, AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT
FOR SAME.
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that upon tabulation of
the bide received for the erection of two steel storage water
tanks that the bid of the Pittsburgh-DesMoines Steel Company
appears to be the lowest bid received, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the bid of the
Pittsburgh-DesMoines Steel Company in the sum of $70,975.00
for the erection of the two said tanks be accepted and that
he be authorized to enter into contract with tr_e said firm,
NO/i, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Commission of the
City of Miami:
1: That the offer of the Pittsburgh-DesMoines Steel
Company to erect two steel storage water tanks at and for the
sum of $70,975.00 be, and the same is hereby, accepted.
2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter
into contract with the said Pittsburgh-iesMoines Steel Company
for the said work, the contract and bond to be approved by the
City Attorney.

I am attaohing hereto letter from lir. Cotten,
Director of Publio Utilities, submitting five oompe•i
titive prices he has received for the ereotion of two
steel, storage water tanks on the 20 aore tract at
NW 7th Ave. and 36th St.
The Pittsburgh-Deabtoines Steel Company are the
low bidders for the ereotion of these two tanks, and
I milit reoommend that their bid be accepted, and that
I be authorized to enter into a oontraot with them for
this work.

We have requested bids on the furnishing of all materia'ils
and erection, giving two coats of paint, for two covered, steel
tanks of approximately two and one-half million gallons each, to
be erected on foundations furnished by us on the twenty acre track
at 7th Ave. and 36th St. N. W. These tanks are for storage purposes
only and will give a five million gallon storage which will allow
our pumping and treating plant to operate continuously at a uniform
rate.
We have received bids on this proposal from The Petroleum
Iron Works; uhicago Bridge and iron Works; Youngstown Boiler and
Tank Company; J. S. Schofield's Sons Company; Riter-Conley Company;
and the Pittsburgh Des -Moines Steel Company. All of these companies
with the exception of the Riter- Conley have given us proposals
the lowest of which is that of the Pittsburgh DesMoines Steel
Company which is S70,975.00 for the two units, The other bids
are shown below:

The Petroleum Iron Works • • 78,400•00
Youngstown Boiler and Tank Co. 75,400.00
Chicago Bridge and Iron Works 72,200.00
J. S. Schofield's Sons Company 76,000.00
I would recommend that we get authority to accept the proposal
of the Pittsburgh DesMoines Steel Company which specifies erection
on or before December 15th, 1924. This is low bid by S1,225.00
