ELECTION TO VOTE FOR THEnDOPT/Ott OR REJECTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 224, PROVIDING FOR THE (MEN. tNO OP REGISTRATION BOOKS, APPC/NTIN1 ELECTION of FICERS, AND Panto ?oRM of BALLOT AND DECLARING TILTS TO Di+; AN EMTIGENCY MEASURE, WHEREAS, the Commission of the City of Miami at its regular meeting held on February 19, 1924, duly adopted Ordinance No. 224, being entitled an ordinance reading: "An ordinance granting permission to, authorizing and'ernpowering the Miami Gas Company, its successors and assigns to lay and maintain pipes and other conductors in, through, along and under the public streets, alleys, highways, squares and public grounds in the City of Miami, Florida, and to do all things necessary or incident to the construction, operation and maintenance of (;as works in said city for the purposes in said ordinance set forth; providing and fixing, compensation for such grant; providing for the unnecessary impeding of public travel and for the obtaining of permits, from the city for necessary excavations and far the replacement of material taken from excavations; fixing; a maximum charge for gas and the quality thereof; regulating the laying of service pipes and the connection thereof with as mains of said company; fixing a mimimum rate for gas and providing for a deposit by consumers of gas; fixing the resp-n:sibility for damage caused by excavations madd by said company; providing for the control and aparoval by said city of the rules and regulations of said company; granting permission to said company to convey gas through its pipes, for the supply of gas toeonsumers outside of the corporate limits if said city, reserving the right to said city to purchase all or any part of the property of said Gas Company at the e-'piration of said franchise, and reserving the right to repeal said franchise; providing for the extensions of the plant and service of said company and for the audit- ing of the records of said company and for the making of certain re- gulations; providing that said ordinance shall be subject to the further state control of said company; providing for the surrender by said company of its existing franchise and for its acceptance of the franchise granted herein; providing for a time limit as a con- dition precedent to the acquisition of this franchise, that the existing Receivership shall have been terminated and Receiver dis- charged; providing for the payment of curtain expenses of said company; and, providing for the publication of said ordinance and the holding of an election thereon and fixing a time when said cr - dinanoe shall take effect and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances In conflict herewith." Section 2. That she City Clerk :3'r1a11 open the registration books for said election from nine o'clock A. M. until four o'clock P. M. on the 27 a day of 1?ebruar;y, 1924, and each day thereafter, (Sundays excepted), to and including the third day of Aril, 1924, in his office in the City Hall, on which last day such 'ookr shall remain open► all day for the purpose of regist;erinnf, all persons :vh5 are qualified to register for such► election. Section 3. J. D. Godman, W. E. Glenn. and J. Ste;xart . on good are hereby appointed as inspectors, and V. B. ';:oore as clerk of said election. Section 4.
