READING OF TIE MINUTES OF MUTING OF MAY 2OTH The Clerk read the minutes of the meeting of May 20th, 1924, and there being no oar reotions or additions thereto, an motion duly made and seconded, the same were ap- proved and aooepted as written. PAUPERS' BURIAL GROUND PROPOSITION OF W00DLAP1N COMPANY Lir. Thomas Tangerman, representing the Woodlawn Park Cemetery, appeared before the Commission and made an offer to furnish the City with space in the Woodlawn Ceme- tery for the burial of paupers. After some disouasion the matter was referred to the City Manager and Mr. 'Tangerman was asked to go into the matter with the City Manager and work out a proposition and submit it at a later meeting. TRANSFER OF FUNDS WITHIN CERTAIN CITY DEPARTMENTS The City Manager submitted the requests of the Chief of the Fire Department, the Chief or the Police Department and the Director of Public, Service for the transfer of certain funds•within their Divisions and Departments, to which requeata the City Manager had attached his approval. 'Thereupon resolutions authorizing the transfers as requested and approved were adapted as follows: Lir. Gentlemen: - We, the undereigned, owners and operators of Rxoursion, Sightseeing and Pleasure boats now doing business at or near the foot of E. Flagler Street, believing that the plans for the new Bay Front Park do not provide adequate docking fa() tittles for boate of the kind mentioned, rmioh leas providing for a reasonable expert - pension necessary to keep paoe with the rapid growth of our City, and feeling also that to move several blooks away would work a great hardehip, inaenuoh as our present location is much nearer the hotel seotion and, we believe, the logical plane for a business suoh as ours. Believing;, also, that you appreciate the fact that we are doing our share to entertain the visitors through the winter and our own people during the summer as, during the past eeaaon we handled approximately 40,000 people, and that due to the building of many beautiful islands in the bay and the improving and deepening of the shore line of both Miami and Miami Beach, also the developing of the Florida Keys to the south of our city there will be a greater demand for larger and more modern excursion boats and that those boats to do bus iness must nave adequate and permanent docking plane. We have been in Miami for a number of years and handled many thcusands of people with never a serious accident of any na- ture and your consideration and respectfully petition your Honorable Body to provide proper docking space for our business ae well ae others between 3. Miami Ave. at N. 14th 3t., in the City of Miami, Fla., do respectively request and appeal to your honorable board for redress of grievance. We have suffered financially by reason of what we all believe to be an unreasonable delay in the construction and completion of improvements ordered at this seotion of the City. Our business has been either totaly or partially paralyzed for a period of about one year by reason of closing of streets and walks, and even at the present date pedestriune are avoiding this avenue for the reason that there is no sidewalks and women and chil- dren are in danger of speeding autos while compelled to walk in the road way. • 9Je especially desire, request, and appeal for your official as- sistence in the speedy completion of sidewalks to the side of this dangerous highway, in order that pedestrians may again resume this way, to the safety of themselves and the benefit of tax paying busi- ness interests.
