QUINN OOMPANY rat WORK MICR SEWiel SIVISE'DY4»'- TItIOT 60-A; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO, WM INTO CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK; AND DEFERRING ACTION -ON - TEE BID FOR SEWER CASTINGS; AND DIRECTING PRE -RETURN -- OP OF CERTIFIED CHECKS AND BIDDER'S BONDS TO THE UMW. - CESSPIT!, BIDDERS BY THS OITY CLERK. WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service and City _ Manager have, pursuant to directions at the regular meet- ing on August 14th, submitted tabulation of bids received for work under Storm Sewer Improvement District No. 60-A, and WHEREAS, it appears that the bid of J. J. Zainn Company for said work is the lowest and best bid received, and WHEREAS, question has been brought up as to the re- lative strength of the castings of the Tyne Foundry and Maohine Company and the U. S. Welding and Iron Works; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commission of the City of Miami: Section 1. That the proposal of the J. J. Quinn Company for the construction of sewers as set forth in their bid be, and the same is hereby, accepted. Section 2. That the City Lanager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to enter into contract with said J. J. Quinn Company and that the contract to- gether with bond to be furnished by the contractor be approved by the City Attorney and that the City Manager submit both contract and bond to the Commission for approval. Section 3. That the City Clerk return to the un- successful bidders the certified checks and bidder's bonds which accompanied their bids. Seotion 4. That action on the bids for sewer cast- ings be deferred until the next regular meeting of the Commission and that tie City Manager and Director of Pu- blic Service be, and are hereby, directed to make tests of the relative strength of the ceastings proposed to be furnished by the C, H. Tyne Foundry and Machine Co. and the castings proposed to be furnished by the S. Weld- ing and Iron ;forks and report the result thereof at the next regular meeting of the Commission. 1923.
