A RESOLUTION IN REFERENCE TO THE ISSUANCE OF
BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DOING THE PRELIMINARY
WORK, DRIVING TEST WELLS, SECURING LAND AND
RIGHTS -OF -WAY, CONSTRUCTING TREATING PLANTS
AND FILTERS, AND RECEIVING BASINS, INCLUDING
PUMPED* STATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SECURING
FOR THE INHABITANTS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
WHOLESOME, PALATABLE WATER.
WHEREAS, the report on the Miami Water Company made.
by The J. G. White Engineering Corporation of New York, made
at the request of and for the City of Miami, shows an estimated
fair value iurchase of the Miami Water Company at the sum of
$816,500, and recommends certain preliminary work, test wells,
the acquisition of land and rights -of -way, construction of
treating plants and filters and receiving basins, including
pumping stations, for the securing for the inhabitants of
the City of Mimi, wholesome, palatable water, and
WHEREAS, the Commission of the City of Miami, while
realizing the necessity of securing, if possible, wholesome,
palatable water, believe that it is not to tl.e interest of
the City to purchase the plant and assets of the Miami Water
Company, but believes th.t it is to the beet interests of the
people that the preliminary work recommended in said report
be done and upon securing a supply cf wholesome, palatable
water, that the City secure the necessary land and rights -of -
way and construct treating plats and filters and receiving
basins, including pump ink, stations, and bring tie water to the

AND, WHEREAS, the City of...MiaMiv:realleinuthat
Offers heretofore made by the Miami Water Company for the
sale to the City of its water plant, were made in good faith
and at a prim which the Water Company deemed its plant to, ,
be worth, yet the Commission of the City of .Miami realises:,
that its purchase of the said Water Company's plant without,:
first securing wholesome, palatable water, would not enable.
them to furnish to the inhabitants of the City any better
water from the present source of supply than is now furnished
by the Miami Water Company. And,
WHEREAS, the Commission of the City of Miami is of
the opinion that a bond issue to the amount of $750,000
should be submitted to the qualified voters for the purposes
above stated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, that the City Attorney be and he is hereby
directed to prepare an ordinance calling for an election for
the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City
the question of issuing $750,000 bonds for the purposes aforesaid,
the maturities and rate of interest to be properly specified in
the said ordinance to be submitted to the Commission.
