DIRECTOR THEREFOR O AND b INI 0 HlS POWERS AND
DUTIES
i►HEREAS, at a general municipal election he March
20th, 1523, the qualified electors of the Oity of Miami
authoriztri the istua,roe of bonds of the City of Miami of
$760,000.00 for the rurr.oee of acquiring an adequate •sub:-
ply of wholesome water for the use of the inhabitants of
the City of Miami, and authorized the issuance ofl, CCO,COO
worth of bonds for the purpose of acquiring lands for public
Park purposes, and authorized the issuance of bonds of
$400,O00.CC, for the purpose of extending and increasing the
street railway system of the City of :Miami, and authorized
the issuance of other bonds for other rublic purposes. And,
WHEREAS, the City Commission has issued and sold the
bonds so authorized by the electors of the C.ty, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that the acquisition
of an adequate supply of wholesome water for the use of the
City and its inhabitants, and the acquirement and.improvement
of a public park, extending from old Sixth Street to old
Eourteenti;. Street on t ,c EGy `sons, by bulkheading, filling
and otherwise improving the same, and the extending and
improvement of the street railway of the City of 'diau i can
best be accomplished by a Director appointed for that purpose
and that the creation of such Director with the necessary
powers TO undertake and complete such work will be to the
best interests of the City and its inhabitants and
WHEREAS, Section lS of the City Charter authorizes the

He shall have charge of the, construction,
improveiert, repair,maintenance and operation of the rublic
park within said City, extending from old Sixth Street to
old Fourteenth Street, including the construction of a bulk—
head or sea—wall, and the filling of -ail rark sr:ace ani the
placing; of such slip or slips as may be necessary, proper
or convenient, and of the beautifying of the said rark.
Ee shall have charge of the construction,
maintenance and repair of the street railway system of the
City of pia ji, including the railway system to be constructed
for the r.ur ose of extending ana improving the present street
railway system.
He shall have charge of the maintenance and

the Cotntnlbslon of the City of Marne
Section 1: That a new department
known as the Uepartntert of Public
Utilities is hereby created.
Section 2: The City 'Manner is herd
