AN ORDINANCE CALLING A PRIMARY ELECTION
TO VOTE FOR Tilt NOMINATION OF OOMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the Oity Charter provides for a primary
election for the eleotion of Commissioners of the City of
Miami to be held on the first Tuesday in May, 1923.
NOV, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI:
Section 1: That a primary election is hereby called
and directed to be held in the City of Miami, Florida, upon
the property of the City south of and adjacent to the City
Hall, from eight o'clock a.m. to sundown on May 1st, being
the first Tuesday in May, 1923, for the purpose of nominating
candidates for Commissioners of the City of Miami, to serve for
a term of two. years from 12:00 o'clock noon of the day after
the canvass of the vote and deolaration of the result of the
election, and until their successors in office are elected.
Section 2: That the City Clerk will open the registration
books for said eleotion from.10:00 o'clock a.m. until noon on
February 28th, 1923, and each day (Sundays excepted) thereafter
until April 14th, 1923, in his office in the City Hall, on which
last day such books shall remain open all day for the purpose
of registering thou persona who are qualified to register for
suob election.

Section 4: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to
publish in the Miami Daily Herald and the Miami Daily Metropolis,
newspapers published in the City of Miami, Florida, on February
28th, 1923, and on April 2nd, 1923, and also once in each of
the four succeeding weeks after April 2nd, 1923, a notice of
said election and registration in substantially the following
form:

May lst, 1923.
A primary election will be held on May let, 1923,
from eight o'clock a.m. to sundown in the City of Miami,
Florida, upon the property of the City south of and
adjacent to the City Hall, at which election the qualified
electors voting will vote for the nomination of candidates
for Commissioners of the City of Miami.
The registration books Will remain open at the City
Hall from ten o'clock a.m. unti..l noon from February 38th, to
April l4th, 1,33 (Sundays excepted), except that on April
14th, 19a3, said .registration books shall remain open all
day for the purpose of registering those pereone who are

Section 8: The City Commission deolaree this ordinanoe
to be an emergency measure on the ground of urgent public
need for the preservation of peace, health, safety and property.
