J. 1923, the Commission of the City of Miami met in pursuance to an adjournment on May 29th, 1923, at 9:00 o'clock a. m., at the City Hall in Miami, Florida, there being present the following: C. D. Leffler, J. E. Lumnis, J. I. Wilson, J. H. Gilman. ABSENT: S. C. Romfh, who was out of the City. REAL V.E RTIBEMEN T 01? BOND SALE $2,730,000 ISSUE The Commission having adjourned until Friday June 1, 1923 at 9:00 o'olook a. m. and having, on May 29th, 1923, rejected all the bids for the 42,730,000.00 Municipal Bonds of the City of Miami and having resolved that the said bonds be readvertised for sale for Friday, Juno 1st, 1923, at 9:30 o'clock a. m., and the said bonds being readver- tised for sale in the MIME DAILY METROPOLIS on key 31st, 1923, and in the MIAVM DAILY HERALD on June 1, 1923, therefore, on motion of J.E. Lummus, seconded by Mr. Wilson, it was resolved that the Clerk instribe upon the minutes cf the meeting a copy of the said readvertisement of said bonds which said readvertisement is as follows: 42,730,000.00 CITY OF MIAM2I, FLORIDA. 5% Gold Bonds Sealed bids will be received by the City Commission, address- ed to the undersigned, and marked "Proposal for Bonds" until 9:30 o'clock e. m. Friday, June 1, 1923, for 02,730,000 Municipal Im- provement Bonds of the City of Miami, dated June 1, 1923, maturing June 1, as follows: 05,000 annually 1929 to 1931 inclusive, $55, 000 1932, 4130,000 1933, 00,000 annually, 1934 to 1936 inclusive, $135,000 annually, 1937 to 1939 inclusive, 185,000 1940, 4135, 000 1941, 0105,000 1942, 090,000 1943, 4110,000 annually 1944 to 1950 inclusive, 420,000 1951, 4220,000 1952 and $270,000 1953. Principal and interest (5% J and D1) payable in gold in New York, denomfnation „1,000. Registerable as to principal. Said bonds com- prise eleven issues separately voted, all being; entitled "Municipal Improvement Bonds". Each bond contains a recital of all eleven pur- poses and the speoi.fic numbers, amounts and maturities of each. Delivery of bonds at place of purchaser's choice on or about June 6, 1923. RECEPTION OF BIDS FUi- BCNDS $2,730,000 ISSUE And this being the hour set for the reception of bids for the said $2,730,000 Bonds, thereupon, upon motion of Mr. Lurnmus, seconded by Mr. Wilson, the following bid was received and opened: Mr. 0. L. l:uddleston, Director of Finance, Miami, Florida. Sir: June let, 1923. For 02,730,000 5% Municipal Improvement Bonds of the City of Lliarni, Florida, described in the attached notice of sale which is hereby made a part of this bid, ter will pay '$2,675,400 and ac- crued interest to date of delivery and will accept delivery at U. S. Mortgage S. .'rust Compare in I;ev: York at the time stated in said notice of sale. We enclose herewith certified checks for $54,600, payable to the order of the Director of Finance, which enclosure is to be returned to us if thishid be not accepted, but otherwise is to be de- posited by said officer and when the bonds are delivered and paid for under t).c thrre c,f this bid, is to be considered as an advance part pay::ent th,:refor, or is to h: retained as and for liquidated damages in case we fail so to take up and pay for the bonds. On roll call the vote thereon was as follows: Ayes:. Messrs: Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. Noes: None. Motion unani- mously parried and the said resolution passed and adopted. PREPARATION OF BALLOT BOXES FOR REGULAR bMNICIPAL ELECTION The question of the preparation of Ballot Boxes for the forthcoming Regular. Municipal El- ection to be hold June 5th, 1923, having come up for discussion and it appearing that the law requires the City Commission to cause to be prepared ballot boxes of sufficient size to receive and contain all the ballots of the voting place for which such boxes are in- tended and that such boxes shall be plainly marked and labeled with the name of the elec- tion district or pricinct thereof for which such boxes are intended .and it appearing that the lati•w requires that before any general election the lity Commission ehell place in the ballot boxed twice as marry official ballots as there are registered qualified voters and after securely locking said ballot boxes, seal up tho key -holes thereof and ell other openings and :end the keys thereof in a sealed envelope to the Inspectors of Election to- gether.with the boxes; thereupon the Commission did place in 12 ballot boxes twice as many official ballots, caused. by them tote printed, as there are registered qualified • voters in the City of Miami and did securely lock said boxes and. seal up the key -holes thereof and all other openings and diced send the keys thereof in a sealed envelope to the Inspectors of said election together with the said boxes, and on motion of J. I. Wilson, seconded by Ir. Gilman, E. Leslie G,uigg, Chief of Police, was made custodian of said bal- lot boxes and said keys and required to take the oath set forth in Section 247 of the Revised General Statutes of the State of Florida. 0n roll call the vote was as follows: Ayes: MLSSRS: Leffler, Lummus, Wilson, Gilman. Noes: None. Motion unanimously carried. ADJOURNMENT 12:10 P.M.
