E. Lummus, seconded by E. C. Romfh, reoeived and filed and ordered spread upon the records. Said oommunioation being as follows: June 19, 1922. Hon. City Commission, Miami, Florida. Gentlemen: At a reoent meeting of the directors of the Miami Cham- ber of Commerce, they passed the following resolution: Whereas, there is general complaint regarding the quali- ty of water that is being supplied to the citizens of Miami by the Miami Water Company; and Whereas, such Company seems unwilling to give assurance to the public of any relief from this situation or of im- provement in the quality of water supplied by it; and Whereas, we regard it to the best interests of the citi- zens of Miami for the City to purchase both the plant of the Miami Water Company and of the Miami Electric Light and Power Company; Therefore. be it resolved, that it is the sense of the Directors of the tdia:.i Chamber of Commeroe that we ask ti.o City of Miami, through the Board of Oommissionore to take steps looking to the purchase of the plants of the Miami Water Company and nf the Miami Electric Light & Power Company, and we recommend that negotiations be 1 • opened with the owners for selection cf Appa�4.t8era of the two propertiee in order to era*. at 4. glue- .aB d basis of snob purchase, and Be it further resolved, that President Seigel' be re- quested to appoint a committee to appear before the Ro- tary Olub, Kiwania Club, Oivitan Club, Miami Realty Board and Miami Ad. That notwithstanding the foregoing provisions for the segregation of speoial assessments for the payment of the bonde herein authorized and interest, the prinoipal and interest of said bonds shall be payable from general taxation upon all the taxable property of the 0ity of Miami, as provided by Section 56 of the oharter now in foroe, and provision for euo h levy shall be made in eaoh year while the bonds herein authorized shall be outstanding. The Director of Finanoe is authorized to call fbr sealed bids for said bonds, to be reoeived until 10 o'clock a. m.,July 18th '1922, by publioation once in the Miami Herald, published in Miami, and in the Daily Bond Buyer, a financial newspaper published in New York 0ity, both publioations to be made at least ten days before said date for receiving bids, of a notioe whioh may be in substantially the following form: $695 , 000.00 OITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, 60 Gold Bonds. General City obligation, pty- able from unlimited advalorem tax levy. The bonds will be prepared under the supervision of the United States Mortgage & Trust Company, New York City, which will certify as to the genuineness of the sig- natures of the offioialo and the seal impressed thereon. Legality will be approved by Chester B. Masslioh, Esquire, New York City, whose approving opinion will be furnished the purchaser without charge. Bide must be upon printed form, to be furnished by the undersigned or said Trust Company, and be accompan- ied by a certified check payable to the order of the'under- signed for ${13,900.00. Bids under 97 and interest will not be entertained. Delivery of bonds about July 25, 1922, in New Yore_ City, or, at purchaser's expense, at place of his choice.
