This would ruin our neighborhood. At a minimum, this proposal should be 12:49 deferred to allow for input from Coconut Grove residents or it should be amended to pm exclude NCD-3 from its scope MDT VOTE NO TO SR 1 UNLESS YOU CAN DO IT WITHOUT EXTENDING TERM LIMITS! Miami voters have the right to decide their leadership, and now, simofar to out corrupt federal government, King, Pardo and Rosado are taking the position that they have the right to deny our voter's rights to decide. YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY CORRUPT AND HAVE NO SHAME, JUST LIKE SUAREZ AND COROLLO! It doesn't even make sense, it's a sports school, it's not even Jun new worlds or something relevant. Regardless, to basically give this away at a loss, 26 when it's worth millions just because the city has let it fall into disrepair to ease its 2025 sale, is abhorrent. This is city gem, and should be kept as such. There is no good 6:58a reason to give this away to any other authority. This is a public jewel and we the m public want to keep it and see it restored. Miami already has so few historic and MDT beautiful venues, dont give this one away. I strongly oppose the giving away of the Olympia Theater to one of the largest for profit charter schools Academia, and it's SLAM project. As someone who has both attended and produced cultural events at the Olympia, I can say that using it as an "auditorium" for students only is a complete waste of resources - it is the nicest theater in the entire county, one that should be fully renovated and restored to function as the cultural icon that it is. If giving it away, why not to Miami Dade College or some other public institution with a track record of producing high quality cultural events for both students and the public. I am so disappointed by this move to give it to SLAM, please don't take away this jewel from the public - we all deserve experience the Olympia with broader public access, not as a home for private for profit charter education - it's a bad match. I support moving elections to even years.
