Background of Item: There is still an additional unexpended portion of CDBG funds in the amount of $885,500.00 from previous years that must be reallocated to the Department of Resilience and Public Works for eligible CDBG activities in District 5. These improvements will expand walkability in the neighborhood with the construction of ADA complaint sidewalks and pedestrian ramps, stormwater systems that reduce flooding during a rain event and the new roadway pavement surfaces that improve commuting through the area. The City's Administration recommends the transfer of unexpended portion of CDBG funds from previous years in the total amount of $885,500.00 to the Department of Resilience and Public Works to be utilized for street and roadway improvements, drainage, and/or any other CDBG eligible improvements in District 5, as described in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated. WHEREAS, there is an unexpended amount of $885,500.00 from previous years Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds that need to be reallocated to the Department of Resilience and Public Works for eligible CDBG activities in District 5; and WHEREAS, there is a need to expand walkability in District 5 by constructing ADA complaint sidewalks and pedestrian ramps, as well as improving the stormwater systems that reduce flooding during a rain event, and update roadway pavement surfaces to improve commuting through the area; and WHEREAS, the City's Administration recommends the transfer of unexpended CDBG funds from previous years in the total amount of $885,500.00 to the Department of Resilience and Public Works to be utilized for street and roadway improvements, drainage, and/or any other CDBG eligible improvements in District 5, as described in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of unexpended CDBG funds from previous years in the total amount of $885,500.00 to the Department of Resilience and Public Works for CDBG eligible improvements activities in District 5, is approved. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all documents, including extensions, amendments, and modifications, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: ge Wyng III, C y -ttor -y 6/2/2025 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
