BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 'TO THE CITY 0:' MIAUI:
Section 1: The following streets and parts of streets
within the City of Miami shall hereafter be deemed "The under-
..
`z ground wire zone," to -wit:
12th Street from the Boulevard to Avenue E; Avenue B
from loth Street to 12th Street.
Section 2: .It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to hereafter place, establish or construct within
the said underground wire zone, except for the operation of any
street railway, any wires used in the operation of any telephone,
telegraph, electric light or motor power business or any wires
for the transmission of electric ourrent unless the same shall be
run or maintained through oonduits laid underground and in ac-
cordance with the City Laws governing the laying of wires and
cables, or to set up, erect, or construct within the said zone any
pole or other contrivance to sustain wires hereinbei'ore prohibited.
Seotion 3: From and after the let day of August 1919,
it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to maintain
within said underground wire zone any wire, pole or other contrt-
vanoe of the character prohibited by Section 2 of this Crdinanoe
and all overgrouud wiree, poles and other contrivances of the char-
acter prohibited by Section 2, which may be in exietenoe within the
aid cone when this ordinance takes effect shall be removed or
placed underground on or before the date aforesaid.
Section 4: Whoever violates any provision of this
ordinance whether as owner or employee shall be punished by a
fine not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars, or by imprisonment not
exceeding ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment
and each day's continuance of such violation shall be deemed a
separate offense.
Section 5: It is hereby declared by the City Council
that the health and welfare of the City of Miami are in peril
and that this ordinance is for the immediate preservation .of the
public peace, health and safety, and this ordinance may therefore
have three readings in one session of the council, and shall go
into effect upon its passage, approval and publication.
