Gentlemen
It has Mae to my attention that what was eupposed to be
a recovendation from r.;e to the incomilig elayor was one Of the reasone
for you temporarily abolishing the position of the PUU4 and deiry
inepector of the City Board of Health. I am unable to ferrit this
OUt some of the Council saying the Mayor reported that I said so.
In eha interview with thtoyor he says if you think eo.yoU
misconstrued him that wtlut 1 (11.k c4ty w,.44 ;.‹A ncrr td.til all
at,pcintilenta of Lhe 2a0d of eeelth Lin u teleotic ptleition eaf tee
food and dairy ineeeetor.
In order that the e,atter eely be etreignt I wish to say I am
unalterably opposcu to the even temporary ouspensfaon uf this
office or any other under the Board of health. The Food and
Dairy Inspeotor is one of the e-oet important positions in the board
and a suspension even for a short time would in my opinion be
a dangerous experiment.
I am at i lops how ony such sentie4ent or opinion ohould
have been in any way laia to me ellen as is .eell known to all
members of the late board one of —hom is no e =amber of the
Council kno' s I have repo3tee7,1y sail tLe board not only needed
the one food and dairy inspector we had but should have another
to do the wore properly as it was in reality all two men could do
to do this wore as we wou3d /ike to hove it done. We refrained
fro e oelking auto reco:ecneetions knowing or tine told the City
Wa2 IL no financial condition et this time to allow it.
TruetiLg this will place eyself in proper lieht before you
without any desire to cause any dissensions I em.
Very truly
