Ur. E. B. Douglas stated that the Chamber of Ovmmeroe Legal Buiaau.had prepared a resolution which he asked be passed and that Mr. A. J. Rose would explain its intent. Mr. A. J. Rose: A number of gentlemen, including 'Zr., Romfh, have launched a movem6nt for the purpose of deepening Biscayne Bay in a great many parts between Collins Bridge and the Causeway, and the city needs and wants a park out there. The figures show, from the engineers' estimates, that a park of at least 100 acres could be created near the town and north of the Causeway. The deepening of.the Bay would oreate a number of islands. Under present lad, the title to such land would be vested in the I I Board and, it is besieved the city could go out there and help deepen the Bay and aid com-:.erce and create islands at great profit to the city if we oan get title. A committee has been appoints:l to draw up an Act to present to the legislature to divest the state cf any title to the islands so oreated and vest it in the city. A committee has also bean aprointei to eo to Tallahassee and wants the suleort of this oounoil. The whole purpose is to vest in the city the title to any islands that may be created in the bay, by the ependiture of money by the city and we`want to present this resolution of the city council when the Act is presented to the legislature. eft. Hi.ehleynan: I was on the corn ittee about these islands and it was th ,usht well to put the islands on the north -side of the Causeway but dred:e the stuff from the south side as it would be to better advantage to have the yachts at anchor south of the Causeway to prevent the yachts continually havine to pass the draw in the Causervay to get to a.n.1 from deep ,water basins on the northside of the Ceuseway. :r.
