CLOSING 1916 TAX BOOKS Councilman Romfh introduoed: 'IAA a BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TME40I !pF MIAMI, FLORIDA That the tax books of the oity of Miami, Florida, oovering assessments for taxes for the year 1916 be considered.as closed on the dOtt di4 .of April, 1917, and the clerk is hereby directed immediately following said date to advertise in accordance with the law for the sale of property, both real and personal, upon which the 1916 taxes have not been paid. Adopted this 19th day of March, 1917. Caspar Hefty President City Council, . B. Moore, City Clerk. Moved by F. H. Wharton, seconded by F. G. Erfert that the resolution closing the tax book April 30, be adopted. On roll oall all voted yes. The chairman announced that council would now prooeed to prepare the ballot box for the election to be held on March 20, 1917, to vote upon the question as to whth-,r or not $440,000. bonds should be issued. Moved by F. H. Wharton, seconded by E. C. Romfh, that'the ballot box be prepared. Motion carried. Council then as t\ere are hole and all J. D. Godman "BALLOT BOX. Whereupon Mr. Godman subscribed to the following affida-vit: . proceeded to prepare the ballot box by placing therein twice as many vallot regietered qualified voters in the pity. The box was then looked, the key other openings sealed, and the key, in a sealed envelope was delivered to , one of the inspectors, together with the box which was plainly marked nITY OF MIAMI. Godman to me well known e.nd bein by me duly sworn says that he has been appointed as one of the inspectors of the special election to beheld in the city of Miami, March 20, 1917, and that there has bee d,rosited with him by the city council of the city of Miami, a ballot box marked: "BALLOT BOX CITY OF MIAMI SPECIAL ELECTION HELD AT CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS MARCH 20, 1917", together with a key, in sealed envelope. Affiant further says upon his oath that he will perform, his commission faithfully and without favor or prejudice to any politica Tarty. J. D.
