E. :dcCaskili: Wen these resolutions were preee any On • m VA r IiIrj 1rrl T ee oee s- Adjourned meeting December 22, 1915. behalf of ttrs Briokell on the improvement of Seth Street, between Briokell Avenue and Avenue E and have been told that there were persons present at the'meeting when the resolution waq confirmed, urging that the work be ordered, but perhaps the faot that it is not necessary was not presented. The street has only one house and that is east of i+1iami Avenue, and is not the street along by the school house; and, as I understand it, one of the persons urging the improvement set up the howl that the sotiool ohildrerz were forded to oli,00 over the rooks. I have been over that sinoe then ana find that there is a good rook road from Point View to the intersection with 2Sth Street and Miami Avenue, whioh leads to the aohool, houso, and if it is to serve the children it will be better for them if no traffio is carried on over the street. sinoe there is but one house on the street and sinoe 22nd Street on this aide has been ordered improved, and Broadway on the other side, it seems there is little necessity for the work especially in view of the fact that so much other work is being done there and imposing on property owners. Mrs. i3riokell has to pay for most of these improvements and it is for these reasons that I filed the remonstranoe. if council can reject the bid for tnat street we shall be glad to have them do so. Chair:;an Hefty: When tale (natter came up tnere was quite a delegation from that section of the city, very much in favor of paving this street, anu ehowea council several reasons why it should be paved, ana we were given to understand tnat really every property owner on the street was in favor of tne improvement except Mrs. Briokell Mr. :1ceaskill: There is only one otner property owner on the street, with a. little three room house; she owns the rest of the property on that street, 1 tra.ink. i understand' this particular property owner was here ana u-ge.1 the improvement of that street, and 1 don't blame him for I would do so myself, but it is not absolutely necessary for all of that property to be improved for one mans benefit, especially when so many other improvements are being male in that district. Cnairman: it woul;a give a better outlet to the entire section, we were told. however, tnat is a matter for the council to decide. .ir. 4cLees iii: Heretoiore tnere has been no opening between 20th and Br caaway, but 32nd is bein: improved and also Broadway. ...r. H. F. Duval: I own property on 26tn Street between Avenue D and E, ana represent ot,ir owners. I waa not here at tne meeting referred to but I have been waiting to get a. roar: in there in order to build; it is reaslly necessary for tne people in the vicinity of 26th Street tnat it be opened up and be paved through. We have no outlet to ,get to ::roadway, wnicn is quite a way down. The Experimental Station cuts us off and Caere is no road from 25-n Street. ..,r. hrmilton owns property in tnere anu he is anxioua to have the Street opened. I was talking to DR Evans the otner day, who owns property en 2:6tn Street, and he is ales very anxious to have it improved. ..ir. ec.;.s'kill: That bein~ the case and since these owners desire tne street improved, it coula be uone between Avenue 2 and Ean.. give them at outlet to D.
