Whereas, of the five hundred eighty five thousand (4585,0OO.) dollars voted for harbor
de"velopemeht, only 65,000. is available for the oonstr etiori of a turning "Wan,' as the
balance mutt be ailed to comply with the other requirements of the War •'Department; and
Whereas, the oonstruction of only one pier is contemplated at this time and a turning
basin 800 X 800 feet will be amply large to nerve the needs of coameroe and ®hipping
coming to tilts one pier; and
Whereas, the city oan immediately :ii;^, a basin of such dimensions and so complete a. useful
and necessary project which the people of this pity for ei hteen years have.:,atrueg ed rand
'corked for; and
whereas, if the Tar Department insist° on the construction o' a larger basin at this time,
it will :sues delay in the harbor project; and
Whereas, there oan be no passible use at this time for a larger basin, for which no funds
:..re now available; and,
Whereas, this city has complied with every requirement of the leas Ler.artrlent in the harbor
matter at swat expense to it and after long struggle,
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, by the City Council of r:irxs..i, Florida, that the Tar Lepart
anent be and 1s is rebut respectfully re-: uested to accept as satisfactory for Oa. preaent

that while he was on hie vacation at the time of his appointment, yet he had stopped the

the statement that some uneuoeseful electrical contractor, he understood, had beet very

made at previous meeting of the council that there was no danger involved and that they

flurwoody stated that the strand management would comply with the ordinance and take
up the matter of the expense latter on. Yr. Ralston stated that it had been reported to him
that ` he Southeastern Fire Insurance Associationnhad sent a Main down here and conk tuned a
similar piece of wiring in.:t,he Vaudette Theater before the city passed its electrical code
and that the wirinc had been torn out. There was some further discussion of the matter
and the following, motion was made:
